Vendor Information : WE INVITE YOU TO JOIN US AT THE AMERICAN LEGION GROUNDS IN KING, NC TO HONOR OUR VETERANS. VENDOR SPACES ARE AVAILABLE AT NO COST HOWEVER IF A VENDOR CAN MAKE A DONATION TO BE RAFFLED OR AUCTIONED, IT WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED. VENDOR SPACES ARE LIMITED AND MUST BE RESERVED PRIOR TO POW WOW. ALL VENDORS MUST CALL AND CONFIRM SPACES. WE PROVIDE MEALS FOR POW WOW PARTICIPANTS THIS INCLUDES VENDORS AND THEIR FAMILIES. ON SITE CAMPING IS AVAILABLE AT NO COST. RESTROOMS AND SHOWERS ARE ON SITE, SO BRING YOU TENTS AND TEE PEES. CAMPER / TRAILER SLIPS FOR THOSE NOT VENDING ARE AVAILABLE AT $ 25.00 FOR THE WEEKEND. THESE SLIPS INCLUDE ELECTRIC, WATER AND SEWER HOOK UP. WE WILL HAVE BEST TEE PEE CONTEST. THIS IS A DRUG AND ALCOHOL FREE ENVIROMENT. WE ASK THAT ALL PARTICIPANTS REMEMBER THAT YOU ARE REPRESENTING YOUR NATION, BAND OR TRIBE. FOR ALL NEW ATTENDING THIS EVENT WE ARE A NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATION. ANY PROFITS MADE FROM ADMISSION GATE WILL BE DONATED BACK TO INDIAN COMMUNITIES FOR THE CARE OF OUR ELDERLY AND EDUCATION OF OUR YOUTH. I wish I could be there with you guy’s , But this is the week/end I will be going to Greensboro , in order to play in the golf tournament at the Windham Classic . Hope I do good . I know this POW POW is still away’s off , But don’t forget about the one at Town Creek Indian Mount in Mt. Gilead on Sept. 29th and 30th . I hope some of you guy’s can make it . You can truly feel the Spirit of our Ancesters in this place . Again I hope to see some of you there .

We are planning to go to Town Creek this year…we have been told that it’s one we should definitely attend. So maybe we will see you there?

Keep all these dates in mind for next year when you come back to visit…may be you can coordinate with those you would like to attend.
This will be the same day we will be there also. But I have not heard if any/one else was plaining to go or not . It want be to bad of trip for all who are living in N.C. But I’m not looking for to many if any from Va due to the drive . unless there are plans of staying over night . Like I said once before this is and ausome place . And very Spirit feeled ground’s I do look forward to meeting you and your’s.

Well, it was a good day. It is 2am and we haven’t been home long. After a rather lengthy supper break, we started back dancing at 7pm and were scheduled to dance until 9pm. The spirit was so good that the drum didn’t close until 11:30pm. They will be going strong again sunday but Becky and I haven’t had a sunday at home in 2 months so we will regretably miss it. We do plan to attend the Nansemond powwow next weekend. We will stay in Ben’s Church overnight saturday and attend both sat and sun. Goodnight, all.
Yes, it was a good day. I thoroughly enjoyed the dancing…and watching one lady in particular who had a walker…just really let Creator take over and her spirit soared. I have never been to a pow wow that had the fire going in the circle…that was really cool at night. I wish we lived closer so that we could go back today…but, the two hour drive is a bit much on the second day. Oh, and I have a new pair of white doeskin mocs to break in…courtesy of my husband (an early birthday gift)….so that the leggings won’t be necessary…yeah! If anyone has a chance to check this one out….it’s a good one…but, remember that each emcee does things differently. This was the first time I saw anyone allowed in the circle barefoot. Hope to see some of you at Nansemond….
I was remiss in not mentioning some of the special dances they did. They did a potato dance(I remember it being done at Surry now), candy dance, broom dance, switch dance along with the regular crowhop, chicken scratch, sneakup, duck and dive, and lots of intertribals. Ken did a rather good sneakup….especially since he’s so thin and agile. I can only say I had the energy to do crowhop from the new shoes…’cause the rest of me was exhausted at the end of the previous dance. It was fun…but, hard for a woman blessed “up there”….KWIM?…LOL. I wish we had had the energy to go the next day…but, we spent it resting and recovering…working on regalia, tweaking things, adding new stuff. Wait until y’all see Ken’s update to his hat…LOL…..it’s definitely different.
