Hi all I am new here looking forinfo on Rakestraws around Rockingham Co.
About 1790-1800GGG-Grandfather might have been from there.
His wife was Morganaor Maryana born 1805 also maybe from that areaMy dad told me that hisdad who was born 1887 said we had Cherokee blood in our family. Andof all the Rakestraws in my line that I’ve seen pictures of most hadthat Native look to them. Possible relation would be a NancyRakestraw living in Rockinham Co. late 1700’s who could be myGGGG-Grandmother not sure. Apparently she owned some land and wasactually charged with larceny and acquitted by jury. I am going toinclude a picture of my dad so you can see what I am talking abouthis features.
