I wanted topost a simple Memorial under events, it is an event in our history.
I wanted to post this, if anyone wanted it to show support for the students and staff at VA Tech.
I figure some people will want it and some wont.
I guess as a student I felt that I needed to show love and support.
I was thinking how many times i walk on to my campus at U o P and it has been a safe place, and many times a refuge and a huge source of my happiness, i could never imagine how it would feel if my world was turned upside down on my campus…
So in solidarity and support for the Students there…
I post this simple picture.
My deepest prayers to the families, surviving victims and to the souls of the victims that have left us, that they find their way to the Creator.

As you can see, there are many definitions of terrorism.
Personally, terrorism has nonething to do with someones ethnicity, nationality, etc. It does not matter who commits these “acts of terror”. Terrorism is terrorism.
It really bothers me when some U.S. Citizens think terrorism is terrorism when someone or groups of people who are not U.S. Citizens killing WHITE U.S. CITIZENS. Personally, terrorism are “acts of terror”….PERIOD!
Rapist, Roadrager Killings, Child Molestation, Drug Dealers, Gangs, Domestic Abuse, Racist Activities, and the list goes on and on!
I know my ancestors were terrorized on several occasions and oppressed. Isn’t that terrorism?!?!?!? “Some” people need to wake up.
Yes, the VA Tech killings was an “act of terrorism.”
We all must remember that NOTHING is new under the sun. Pretty Much.
I am currently reading this book that I highly recommend everyone read. What an eye-opener!

Question:
Do you think that there would have been a lot of media coverage/National News coverage if Cho did not kill any White U.S. Citizens? Something to think about.
P.S.: Please forgive me if I offend anyone out there but this is my opinion.
I think… whew… I have seen lots of blogs this time on this topic, I think Cho outside of the horrible media coverage on this i have more interest in the investigation and profiling on this one at this point, because this time i saw no race relation, no issue of faith base or economic status involved other than the crap that came out of his mouth, plane and simply he wasnt right in his head, his family has not made any statement probably because they are afraid, feel shame, guilt ect being Cho’s parents, whos family in SK said Cho was always basicly a messed up kid, so I cannot judge what the media decides to exploit in this weeks news I just need hard facts. Everyone victimized last week at VT was not from one particular group or another, they shared one thing in common, one pure thing, that they were all there for educational purposes as a teacher or student, and that young man had basicly just snapped and Virginias laws on many levels is very lax even though policies were followed to a tee.

true terrorism does not need to know any color, culture, or faith it is what it is. I sat and watched the news and listened how people were so “SHOCKED” I was like really? Your shocked? Your living in 2007 right? After 911, Columbine, Kids who are killed in the inner city every day, The horrors at Abu Garaib, Those left after hurricane Katrina and still living in tents what 2 years later? Nothing Nothing should shock us. I noticed that though I shed a few tears for those that were murdered last week, I am no longer shocked any more just saddend that the human beings I am living with on the earth have changed some for the better and some for the worse.
BUT BUT BUT…. Creator gives us HOPE, FAITH, LOVE.
WHen it comes right down to it…WE can do better, give better, seek better, and create better.
One thing this had me thinkin the other day up north here people rarely just walk by and say Hi good morning or open a door for you it’s kind of rare up here, down south you see that all the time. When we do nice things for eachother it is contagious, might the little things stop a massive shooting, who knows maybe it will maybe it wont. But once we start cutting out the little things i think is the start of holding ourselves accountable for the little things we let slide, that sometimes turn into alot of things we let slide, even just simple courtesy, the one kid we saw crying at the gas station around the corner, the woman gettting screamed at by her man outside the car with his fist in her face, the youth we drove by who was scraped, and bruised, the group of youth fighting outside that we didnt interupt because we were to affraid or it wasnt “OUR” business ( I hate that excuse) This world, we can no longer not have courage to make a change because what happenes in our back yards, side walks, neighborhoods, communities ect.. is our business because…We are all created to live here on one earth. IT IS MY BUSINESS. It should be all of our business. I would rather be beaten or threatened, go to jail for caring, integrity, love, and hope than just standing by and watch everything fall apart.
Wow well thats my therapy for myself for the week geesh, I know i have some laundry to do but aparently i had alot on my heart to say.. Glad my family is here where i can share and actually i feel a little better big hugs and kisses!
You know guys……I was going to say my piece, and decided that rather than stoke the fire, I’ll be the peacemaker that I am. We tend to bring public outcry about the issues that bother us the most or that are “personalized” to us.
I understand Christina wanting to remember those V-tech students. Which we should do for ANY event similar to the shootings. But I also noticed that the media always mentioned other events such as Columbine, etc. And I always wondered why they never mentioned the AMISH shootings! Even though they are “white”, they are a “religious outsiders” that we usually don’t associate as part of our “community”, because they live by different rules…..? I don’t know. Or what about Darfur……..is it because they’re across the world – Africans, who don’t personally touch our lives?
But I also understand Erica’s point of view also, because I agree with her on the flip side of the coin. We’ve had massive terrorism and slaughtering in both the ndn and african-american history for YEARS! But only we as descendants know what our people suffered and can memorialize? their suffering.
After I got into genealogy, I wished that I was back in grade school straightening out my history teachers, and writing to the school book writers and DEMANDING that they rewrite our social studies books. Why? because they INTENTIONALLY taught whole generations of young people the wrong story about our American History and ancestors…..our ndn, african-american AND caucasian ones.
So, all of us can bring up our viewpoints on such issues, but after all is said and done, the world became messed up from the very beginning when brother killed brother. We can continue to expect ourselves to fall into such personal “what’s important to me” issues, but please just remember, we were all ONE man. We can turn around and said, “humm, I didn’t think of it that way”.
Please let’s not make these kind of events find us taking sides or putting more emphasis on “our” way of thinking without giving the benefit to the other side. Let us share our hurt and pain, but also be careful in what we say, if only to keep the peace, okay?

Black Indian Girl I’m confused on how are oppinions differ? Just wondering cus it sounds like you had conflict with what I was saying. Though I have been apart of Saponi Town for quite awhile I dont share everything about myself on here then again there a few others on here that know me and my heart. If you are more interested in seeing more and getting to know me, come visit my myspace I welcome you over there, to get a better look at my thoughts and feelings and who I am. I mention this because after reading your post several times over I think it came down maybe to what I didnt say, maybe my thoughts were incomplete or that maybe I left folks out like the Amish, and our Brothers and Sisters in Darfur.
And I saw that you used Cain and Abel as a for instance as brother against brother since the beginning of time. Please come over to my myspace i would love to discuss it more with you. I welcome everyone and I have love for all.
And there is not a day that goes by not one morning that I do not think of all those that have passed and those that struggle.

Hi Roni, they did mention the Amish with great respect. And they talked about how forgiving the Amish were and how they thought that the Amish might have the right attitude by not continuing to rehash the killings over and over and glorifying the deed. And they mentioned that maybe we should all take a lesson from them. However, after that I must say, the tv station did continue to rehash the VA Tech thing over and over. I’m glad they aren’t talking so much about it now because maybe the victims and their families can start their healing process now that it isn’t being splashed all over the tv 24/7. My heart goes out to those affected by this horrible event.
Hi guys……first, to Barb. On our TV stations, here, I don’t think I heard the Amish shootings mentioned at all…maybe once. Maybe your local stations mentioned them quite a bit. But either way, it was just something I noticed while listening to the news, and those types of things stick out to me.
For Christine, no I wasn’t attacking you or your opinions…..if anyone was, you could’ve asked Erica if she had anything against something you said. My only problem came from where you mentioned:

The problem I had with that was some of Cho’s ranting’s were about “the rich white people” that had apparently treated him badly. Through all of his “crazy” babble, again, it stuck out like an “ah-huh”! People who tend to “flip” when they have a mental illness……whether it be psychotic or schizoprenia (sp?) tend to tolerate a LOT of abuse until here comes a severe trigger that causes them not to be able to handle the mental load any more. I speak this from personal experience from dealing with some distant family members. So, if you’re ears are tuned to the “why” of things you tend to perceive and notice things that other people tend to overlook.
Please believe me, I’m not “dissing” you like I would if I wanted to respond like my great-grandmother would’ve.:cool: I don’t have to know a person to read between unsaid lines and I’m a VERY INTELLIGENT individual, and I’m not one to have wool easily pulled over my eyes.
But like I said before……I’m for peace. You said your peice, Erica said her peice, and I saw a fire starting. So rather than be a $#&!* like I could’ve, I took the low road and simply made points I’d noticed. Didn’t I take sides with both of you guys? That was on a GOOD day.;)

At times I too voice my opinion on Saponitown and in everyday life but I’ve realized that “sometimes” some people could care less what I think. In addition, we all are entitled to our opinions. Have a great afternoon family.

and very much a unique individual and I value your views because of that. I want you to know that your technology outshines mine in that I have great difficulty in getting My Space to open up for me…then sometimes it shuts down. It is either my firewll or more likely my slow RAM 64MG (I think). It won’t change soon. ($$$). Also, utube plays v- e-r-y , v-e-r-y , slowly for me…probably most definitatly RAM. I just want you to know I can’t do these things to interact with you fully and would if I could.
Now, I’ll go back to reading your thread here.

Our local stations didn’t do a whole lot with them. I’m in Oregon, and so it wasn’t a ‘local’ story. It was on one of the 24/7 news stations. Either FOX, CNBC,CNN or MSNBC. I don’t know which one because I switched back and forth while I was watching the news. They didn’t say it a lot, only a couple times. As always, most of the channels, that one included, most of the time were just pressing into the horror of it all.
