Hi Everybody

I’m new to the forum. My name is Holley. My Great Grand Father was Jack Robins b.1842 in TN. He was Scotch Irish.

He married Mary Bendon or possibly Brandon

I found this:

Benton Co. info names a John A. or John W. marrying Nancy Brandon in 1874 –John A. or John W. (not sure about the middle initial) was the seventh child of Charles and Basheba. He married Nancy A. Brandon in 1874. In 1880 he was staying in the home of one of the Maynards, and the census taker had his name as A.J. and his occupation as local tramp. His wife Nancy and his two children were living nearby with Irvin Shelby Robbins married Sarah Ann Brandon. Their children were: William Baily, Mary Paralee, J.A., Elizabeth, Sally, Cynthia, and Henry. Irvin Shelby was a blacksmith like his father.

I figured Jack could have been John – there’s too many similarities – especially with the name Shelby Robbins who pops up in the information. My Grand Father was Shelby Atlas Robbins – but the story goes he probably changed it from Robins or Robin.

Anyway, this information pushes my Blackfoot-Cherokee back to my Great Great Great Grandmother, who supposedly married an Irish immigrant (Great Great Great Grand Father). I have found information that says Irish immigrants worked on the Railroad in Henry Co. and Benton Co. TN.

Swimming thru family stories (what’s left) and sparse documentation has turned out to be quite the head scratcher. Anyone with similar connections? Thanks
