February 27, 2007 at 6:40 pm #25072Lafayette (probably ‘William Lafayette’) was b. Ala. His father & mother were b. Ga., altho the census usually lists his mother as born in Alabama, she apparently wasn’t.
The 3 states listed after an individual’s name are:
1st: where the listed individual was born.
2nd: where that individual’s father was born.
3rd: where that individual’s mother was born.
I use small case ‘m’ and ‘f’ for male and female and don’t list a child’s parents’ birth state so long as it is consistent for the parents in the same household or is needed for clarity.

The “S” in “William S.” looks like a census taker’s idea of “S” for Cyrus.
I don’t know that Cyrus’s first name wasn’t also William, but it’s not too likely so I think the census taker just got the twins’ names scrambled.
“Joannah” is the Mother of Geo. W. Rogers/Rodgers (Sr).

The only marr. record for a William Rogers/Rodgers found in Stewart Co., Ga Indexes was for a:
William Rogers m’d Jerusha Goss, 23 Nov 1843.
It’s possible they are the same people, but I can’t say that Jerusha is the same person as Joanna, just by looking at these indexes.
……………………………………………….
On the 1850 Stewart Co, Ga Census, Will & Joanah Rogers are at Household 646. Nearby are ‘probably’ her parents, William & Milberry Tyler, since Milberry Tyler was living with them in 1860 Coffee Co., Ala.
