Within this web site are various lists and compilations and theories of the names and surnames known or strongly believed to be Saponi that connect to families who carry a family story of Blackfoot ID.
I’m wondering if anyone is, in any fashion keeping a list of names from families with the Blackfoot or Blackfoot/Cherokee or Blackfoot/Any Other Tribe ID who have traced a likely canidate for that ID to an historically known Blackfoot location and time period, but whose name, as of yet is not known to be tied to living or historically documented names.
Theoretically this is possible if the Blackfoot Ancestor or all of their family of that name migrated east, with none staying behind in the southeast. This seems a very likely situation. Would these people not legitamately be just as “Blackfoot” as those who have ancestors who stayed behind? Having this knowledge availabe would at least give some peace of mind and a limited validation knowing of others who share the story and ancestor or location.
Another reason this could happen is when the ancestor in the east married ito black or white exclusively for generations, while the migrated ancestors kept the family ID alive in the east.
I would find it very valuable to have a list of the Given and Surnames of ancestors who are suspected of the possible connection to the family story but who are not currently known or thought to definaltely or fairly definately have been Blackfoot.
The list I’m proposing could be the next tool in providing at least exactly what it is…other families from east of the Eastern Blackfoot Homeland Locations, not tied to living or historically known Blackfoot names but none the less groups of Families with the shared family story.
Keeping track of migrations and locations along the way would also be desired.
I’m sure what I’m trying to say could be better expressed than my attempt here. Does anyone understand my proposal? Is anyone doing this? What does everyone think of creating such a list? How could we utilize this site to do it?
I’m always a great one to have an idea but not a plan to carry it out.:o
I’m not sure I’ve posted this to the right place.

I think that this ia a great idea and if avery one on this site posted names of families of the Blackfoot Id’s that they know who are not currently identified then that would be a start to your list
hopes this helps
tia
p.s. I think tha my family is among them since my father’s mother was said to have been half Blackfoot and half Cherokee and her sir name was Pitts.
