Got to love map quest….these are not 100 percent proven……but I have traveled the entire dan and Roanoak river looking for islands thru ariel photos….found some…..

Occaneechi had 2 islands).

This is a mystry spot…This and the mound thing are the two spots I found that looked weird when going over the entire abemarle county VA arial map……this thing has no road leading to it…it’s directly off the Saponi trail….and defiently cleared out enough for a small village. It’s way out in the woods too. It kinda looks like something circular was at one time around it…the Siouan tribes did like to build circular fortresses around their village.

thats the photo of the mound I was talking about…it’s right off the Saponi Trail…..and it’s north of the above photo….it’s also right next to the river.
