I am looking for any information on a Smith Shepherd who married Ann Eppes. He was born in Virginia around 1831. My mothers family of Shepherds moved from Person County to Robeson County. Thank you for any information on this family. I know his daughter was Leah Shepherd my gggrandmother.
Are you still looking for this information? Smith Shepherd was Francis Smith Shepherd, son of Byrd Shepherd and Mavel Stewart Shepherd. He was the brother of my gggrandfather, Aaron Shepherd. Aaron and his wife and kids “moved” to Ohio during the Civil War. The rest of the family remained in the NC area. Tthe 1850 census has F Smith Shepherd as 18 and living with his parents and siblings in what was then Caswell county, NC.
