Native American genealogy research from the Piedmont of NC & VA
:p hi,
i have run across an article on kentucky melungeon.
Southeastern Kentucky Melungeon Information Exchange
the section that caught my eyes was the magoffin county kentucky census records by harold w. mullins.
the cole family he has listed is my family along with the perkins and oxyer ( auxier ), and fletcher, gibson family. they are all listed as na,mu,b. sorry if i am rambling on, but i now know who and where i belong.:p
i guess my point is that my family have always claimed to be cherokee/creek. even though all our apps to the eastern cherokee have been rejected. though my 5th great g parents John Cole & cuzzie anderson lived among them as stated on the apps. we can find nothing on Jack the father of john and william. i have seen brenda post of a foolish jack and little jack. could this be my jack. as i also come through william cole and biddy collins.
Thanks for posting the link. 🙂 The document also had an interesting mention of some of my Mullins/Fleming line.
awe your so very welcome..i hope it helps someone. i believe we have some mullins in my family…dont have my notes in front of me as i am at work.
