Yep, we plan to leave mid afternoon and arrive around suppertime. Looking forward to a nice reprieve in the mountains….been a long week.
Still enjoying the peacefulness and spiritual uplifting from this weekend….the mountains were fantastic…totally surrounding the pow wow site. I know Ken and I neither one wanted to come home. It was hard to leave good friends…but, we will many of them in the next few weeks.
The dancing was good, even though it was pretty warm. Enjoyed hearing All Nations drum along with the Lakota/Ojibwae(?) drum. We did many intertribals, men’s traditional, women’s traditional…and of course, the candy dance for the kids.
Next time I will know about Highway 226, though…that was definitely an experience….and Spruce Pine is a wonderful little town.

Literally dancing on top of the world……close to Creator and the ancestors.
Spruce Pine is located on the eastern continental divide and what Becky means about 226 is that it rises rapidly using tight switchbacks……. maximum truck speed going down is 15mph and low gear. Highly recomend this powwow to anyone who can make it next year.
