July 31, 2006 at 10:27 am #22460Hi, Joe,
I don’t know that they are Saponi.
Clinton is in Hickman Co., Ky, where they lived in 1900.
North America Stanley m’d James M. Dearmond on 24 Nov 1870 in Muhlenberg Co., Ky, where they were still living in 1880.
(James was m’d 1st to Nancy Stovall on 13 June 1866 in Muhlenberg Co, Ky)
James’s sister Lucretia Adaline Dearmond m’d Richard B. Stanley (America’s brother) and James “Dearman” was living with them in 1870 Muhlenberg Co, next door to Mary (Williams) Stanley, b.abt. 1814 South Carolina, and North A. Stanley, b.abt. 1853 Ky. North America Stanley’s father was Isaac Stanley, b.abt. 1816 Muhlenberg Co, Ky, d.abt. 1868 Muhlenberg Co., Ky.
Isaac Stanley m’d Mary Williams 1 Aug 1835 in Muhlenberg Co., Ky.
Parents of Isaac are John Stanley, b.abt. 1790’s NC, d. 1842 Muhlenberg Co., Ky and Nancy Garris, b.abt. 1796 Northampton Co, NC, d.abt. 1867 Muhlenberg Co., Ky.
Mary Williams Stanley’s parents are likely John Williams, b.abt. 1787 South Carolina, d. in the 1870s in Muhlenberg Co., Ky; and Frances (maiden name unknown) b.abt. 1787 SC, d. in the 1870s in Muhlenberg Co., Ky.

This, of course, isn’t a tribal roll as such, but it does mean that somebody who’s been looking at a lot of families associated with Saponi roots, has come across that name in this connection.

John and his Wife Katie had many children too. Things changed maybe after 1910 also. Very interesting to connect all the family.
