Native American genealogy research from the Piedmont of NC & VA
I may be related to your Mother, Vera Carpenter, through the DNA Marc has checked. I was just wondering where we are connected, which side of the family or what relative we may have in common. Do you know where I could find the information?
Thank you,
Wendy Edwards Carmichael
I APOLOGIZE Wendy. I have not been back here for a long time. Mom’s people come from PA, VA, WV. Check the surnames in my signature line and see if any match.

Thank you, Cindy, for replying. I am in the process of researching my family line. Paternal, basically English…Maternal English/German. I know some relatives started out in the New England states on Mom’s side, but also in the VA, PA and WV areas. Dad’s were PA, VA, WV and KY. They both ended up in the Allegheny Mt. foothills area of OH in the Ohio Valley.
The surnames I found in my line are: Green, Davis, French, Carpenter, Talbot, Davis, Walker, Moore, Johns and Isham. Still trying to figure out which side they are on…maybe eventually.
Thank you, again.
Have a blessed day!
Wendy
I have all those surnames except French, although French is a name that connects, I think. The Carpenter line is my mother’s paternal line. She has 2 Walker lines, one that is very distant in the Green line and one that connects with all the remaining surnames you list. She has 2 Davis lines, one that originates in Baltimore, MD and one that originates in VA and ends up in KY and then IA. All other surnames, with the exception of Green, are in VA and their lines end up in KY.
The Greens are native-mixed and originate in MD and move to WV (Berkeley County) and then OH and end up in IA where I grew up.
