Who Counts as Indian in Post Apartheid Virginia.pdf
I would imagine some of us have come across this Thesis online written by Jay Hansford C. West, PhD of University of NC at Pembroke.
It should be noted that Dr. West is an enrolled member of the Monacan Nation, and direct descendant of Opechancanough of the Pamunkey Nation.
This thesis discusses many issues that can be a great source of healing for many… Especially anyone who feels marginalized…
Enjoy the read…

Wow – this was awesome – thanks for posting this. Very helpful. This helps me sort of let go of some painful emotions, but at the same time, it makes me want to fight for my ancestors’ identification as indian. What a quandry.

Anytime… The Saponi Forum is the greatest single resource I have found of active people (family) who know their Native/ Saponi ancestry, & truly help others learn… I am still new and learning myself…
In earlier posts Linda posted http://www.tutelo.org which has words and phrases in the Saponi (Siouan) dialect…
