Native American genealogy research from the Piedmont of NC & VA
I saw a 2003 discussion by Brenda Collins-Dillon of her Day ancestry, which was connected to the Cottrells of West Virginia. She mentioned some names in my family tree. My earliest known Day ancestor is a Thomas Day, Sr., whose family may have migrated from Maryland to North Carolina in the mid / late 1700s. Thomas Day was born about 1743-1745, and had sons named Thomas II, William, Hugh, Lucy, and Nancy. Lucy Day married William Wallace Cottrell, which ties in with the post by Brenda Collins-Dillon. Thomas Day, Sr. lived in Buffalo Cove, NC, which was just south of Day’s Gap on an 1800 map of Caldwell County, NC.
I was wondering if anyone else on here knew any history of the Days who lived in Burke/Caldwell County, NC?
Thanks.
Fred Day
