Good evening everyone,
There are two ladies (Elizabeth Etheridge and Susannah Thompson) in my genealogy that I don’t know who their parents are. I think it is possible that both these ladies may link to the Butt families that married into the Thompsons and Etheridges. I ask for your help in finding their parents.
Elizabeth Etheridge b. abt. 1740 N.C. m Nathan Pittman b. 1734 Edgecombe N.C.
Susannah Thompson b. abt 1770 Robeson co. N.C. m. Newitt Pittman b. 1768 Robeson co. N.C.
Thanks much,
Cliff

Are you sure about Elizabeth Etheridge’s birth year I have her born 1771 and Nathan Pittman born 1763
December 29, 2005 at 1:40 am #18360I am curious. I think I was the only one with the surname Butt for a while on this forum. Now, there are several. I am curious to know if the folks with this surname have the Blackfoot ID in this line. If you see this posting and know that this is the case, please reply. I am curious.
Techteach
December 29, 2005 at 1:40 am #18361I don’t know for certain Techteach but I do know they were on the 1790 census of Halifax Cty. NC as having FPC in the household and they hung out with the Etheridges. Having said that I personally believe they did. But now these particular Butts came from Lower Norfolk county in Va. They were neighbors of the Etheridges there as well. I have done extensive research on our Etheridges and have seen the Butt name many times and in many many wills and deeds of both families.

December 29, 2005 at 1:40 am #18364No ma’am,
I only have the information that is on Rootsweb.com. There
may be Nathan Sr. and Nathan Jr. With Sr. being born 1734 and Jr. born 1763. Also two Elizabeth Etheridges– with one being born about 1740 married Sr. and the other Elizabeth b. 1763 married Jr. Apparently I am descended from Nathan Sr. through his sons Sampson and Newitt. I have also seen the names of two Etheridge men named Ally and Atty. For all I know these may be the same person. I also have a Stephen Andress(Andrews) b. about 1750 that married a Sarah Etheridge. I don’t know her parents either.
Thanks
Cliff

December 29, 2005 at 1:40 am #18371Miss Linda,
I think the evidence defintely points to the Pittman-Etheridge
line. My mother is a Regan and all her family maintains this Indian ancestry. My ggg-granfather was William Spann Regan and he married Katherine Pittman dau. of Sampson Pittman who was the son of Nathan Pittman Sr. Anyway I have a lot more digging to do and will always appreciate your input and help.
Thanks
Cliff
