I was wondering if anyone here on the board may have photos of this area. Also if any one has other info. on this particular area that would be great to talk about.

This map comes from the Keel-Whitaker family book by Barnette, Johnson, Keel, and Whitaker
The Will of John Collins mentions the sale of 150 acres on the North side of Guy Hall Swamp which was bought from Hardy Keel.
Hardee-Hardy Keel was the father of Jesse Keel. Jesse married Priscilla Whitaker. Hardee-Hardy Keel was in Pitt County, North Carolina and bought lands from Benjamin Sanders about 1765.
Hardee-Hardy Keel dies sometime before 1792 and may have moved to Halifax district Edgecomb County, North Carolina around 5 years before his death.
What year did the Tuscarora begin selling off lands in this particular area and also was Benjamin Sanders the first to buy there?
Did the Saponi generally have to buy lands when they went to live amoung the Tuscarora? Supposedly the Saponi petitioned the state to live on Tuscarora lands I think some time around the end of the Tuscarora war.
Also does anyone know any history on this particular area surrounding Tranters Creek and Guy Hall Swamp
Someone once sent me some pages (as jpgs) and I had forgotten about them, embeded with other things. I didn’t know much about the Tuscarora at the time or how they fit in so I stored it away forgotten . . . but for some reason I looked through old emails and found this. A couple of the images are maps — one mentions a “Thomas and Ester Kersey”, Sapona Town, Tuscarora Town, and Meherrin Town. Other names are mentioned — including Lowry, recently mentioned on another thread in Maryland I believe. But this Lowery and Kersey are not in Maryland — they are living in the area your map describes — Bertie or nearby counties on or near Tuscarora lands.
Other surnames mentioned on those lands — Pugh, Chavis, Cade, Jones (2), Hunt, Johnson (2), Kennedy, Shaw, Saunders, Hall, Cox, O’Berry, Willis (3), Edwards [pesonal note: another Edwards was a slave owner @ 1800 and had earlier set Solomon Richey free (he had been a slave) per Amherst County, Va documents dated 1811], Finkley, Barnes (2), Fort (3), Alford, Lamb, Odom (2), Powell, Leggett. Dates of occupation of this land range from 1748-1779. If anyone is interested in any of these surnames, I can provide the community they lived in, and their given names also.
Another page of the document definitely mentions the Tuscarora and Bertie Co, 1778, and speaks of the selling of Tuscarora lands and is signed by the following surnames — Tufdick (3), Roberts, Blunt, Pugh (2), Gibson, Thomas, Mitchell, Roggers, Smith, Pugh. These signatures are reputedly by Tucarora Indians.

I would like some information on the Edwards family, My g-grandfather was born in NC. So far I haven’t found very much information on his family. The only piece of information is that his father was a taveling methodist minister in the mountains of SW Virginia, his wife was a Mead and CR-21 has posted some information on that Family.
