Native American genealogy research from the Piedmont of NC & VA
I’ve located several of my relatives on my maternal side: Masons and Tuckers who originated I think) in Brunswick County. I have traced the Tuckers back to William and Mary Tucker who are listed as “Mulattos” in the 1860 census, along with their son Edward, my great-great grandfather.
On the Mason side, I have been able to trace back as far as 1870, Moses and Harriet Mason, also listed as Mulattos. The interesting thing is that by 1900 both families relocated to McKenney, in Dinwiddie County. I have heard stories of a tribe camping on my great-grandparents land every summer while my mother was there. So far I haven’t been able to trace anything on the tribe, the family story is that they were related to my great grandparents somehow.
Welcome Toni. Is your Goins named involved? Did you know that’s a name a lot of people are researching, believing that some Going have NA origins?
