If I have figured how to work this board,I will proceed with telling the names which I am hunting.
Stephen Tunnel was born in Spotsyvania ,Va ca 1763–d.ca 1828,Ky.
[he] married Kezia Money,b.prob MD.-d.1836,Morgan Co,Ill
son: Stephen Jr.-b Mar,04,1790,Green Co,Tenn-d.Feb.04,1837,Miss
married: Sarah Hamilton,b.1810-Sullivan Co,Tenn.-d.Dec,1871,Miss
[ her Dad was Abraham Hamilton,prob.b. Md.–married Unknown]
Stephen & Sarahs’ dau.,Martha Kezia Tunnel b.7/31/1826,Miss-d.1918 Itawamba Co,Miss
[she] married Leoma C.Summerford,b.York Dist,SC.-d.Itawamba co,Miss
Their dau,Sarah Annie Tunnel Summerford was my Grand Mom.
Sarah married John C.Perry,b.Linclon Co,Tenn–died Chickasaw Co,Miss.
Leoma Summerfords’ dad:William Sum[m]erford b.ca 1763,SC–d.4/01/1844,SC
[have a copy of his will]
Wm.Summerford was m. 1/st to :Margaret unknown
2/nd to : Piety [Peity],[Paty] Dabbs b.SC -d.-Itawamba Co,Miss.
I do not know if Leoma was the son of Margaret or of Piety.
Williams father was Abraham,b.?,maybe SC—d.bef.1743,York Dist,SC
My Mother,Dovie married Clifton Tubb and so here I am !
Mother told us that Ma Perry was part NA and that she was ‘Blackfoot’ and they got that name bacause of the way they farmed.
I believe that she [we] may have been of one of these Tribes.
Does any of the names ring a bell?
Tunnel,Money,Hamilton, Summerford,Dabbs.
Thanks for any help.Mary Creech in Lower Alabama

Most of us have the same questions about the Blackfoot information. Why not post your family information on the genealogy forum and maybe Bill can help.

August 18, 2006 at 4:50 am #22754Welcome Mary, glad you found your way here. I moved your thread to this section so it will get more attention. I haven’t heard those names as I can recall. Why don’t you try searching on them with the search button above and see if anyone else has posted any of them before?
Virginia and SC locations are of course common for this Blackfoot ID, so this is a good direction to be searching in.

It took some time to verify the data due to some of the strangest spelling variations I’ve ever encountered, but did manage to confirm the 1920 to 1830 flow by late afternoon. More to follow.
