Airy Dixon has been involved with this. I got a flyer from him when they were dedicating it. We tried to make it, but chickened out from such a long drive. I think we came down with flu or something.
Good to see your around, Tom. Hope you’re doing well. I’m in a Pottery workshop being done by a Pamunkey potter. I’m learning how to process clay dug from an old Pamunkey spot. We’ll be firing stuff in a fire pit — traditional all the way. I’m excited.
Now we just need you around here, developing the basketmaking. I saw some plants near the shoreline where I live I thought might be river cane. I need to photograph it and let you see.
Hey Linda, thanx for that, the time I spend I hope I can be helpful, Iam still very interested in helping things happen here.
I have been doing some research re. the basket types etc and need to focus on several things.
In the next while I should have some more articles for the material culture, I just need to get the focus together and present the issues.
The pottery sounds really neat, after you get the coiling method down look into some old material like what was posted some time ago.
One hint with coiling once you have the sides up the clay will stretch upwards if warm enough, I have done this and it’s real majic!
