Native American genealogy research from the Piedmont of NC & VA
Recently I have been hearing things about the U. N. getting involved with the rights of indeginious peoples — even people of mixed heritage.
There are people that originated in Canada called the “Metis” with a stateside componet called the “Southern Metis”. You can do a search for them at google or yahoo or whereever you want to search. Recently they sent me some e-mail about the U.N. being more simpathetic (sp?) and being about to act. I believe I’ve heard of others also addressing the U.N. on this issue.
Do any of yall know anything about it?
thanks
vance
Hello vance yes I have heard of these issues , sometime ago the Commision on Indeginous People had made some move toward recognizing “invisible” groups, I’ll check on this, one of my old Proff’s was one this commission, Best to all, Tom
