Hi to all.
I have wanted to post this but I am frankly so confused by now…for several days I have been searching more on the Walker, Allen and Hunt lines..and Anderson. Trying to get more info on my direct lines.
This study points to three different early Walker families out of Va..all related..and I descend from the first mentioned.
William Walker died in 1723 and wife Elizabeth Warren died in 1728…New kent co va and Henrico co Va.
David Walker, father of David Walker, 1699-1774 in Goochland co Va. and
William Walker, father of William Walker, 1717-1784, who married Jane Bayes, Goochland Co Va and early in NC.
While I cannot participate in this study because I do not have the direct male continuing line, I still descend from the first mentioned William Walker. Here is a link to the study…cont.
April 29, 2005 at 2:03 pm #14744I would be part of group 2.
Becky had the Tandy Walker connection also..and maybe others here on the forum have some Walker connection.

It is interesting to see the test results where you see the markers, how there are exact matches across the board. I don’t know what to make of it all for me exactly..I don’t completely understand it all..but one person explained it a bit more and showed the results coming up with a mix of European and native american..he himself with about 17% and his father 25% native american..beyond that, all of these numbers mean nothing to me..I have thought that this family is mixed, or some of it, even though some had slaves and were landowners…and in my mumbo-jumbo of notes I have more criss-crossing down the line..Sue J

If you go to the ‘search” pedigrees,
see group 2 and the very first person has a website..David Walker with a page on Milam co Texas..Branchville, etc.

Thanks. I didn’t see Branchville mentioned, but I did see Milam County, Tx, where my Joshua Allen Hawkins died in 1892. I don’t know what to make of this. It is interesting, tho. 🙂
Where does it say someone was 25 % American Indian and their offspring was 17%? If one parent was 1/2 and the other 1/4th, the offspring of this union would be @ 18.75%. Anyhow, since the offspring was more than 12.5% it shows the other parent also had Indian blood.
But I didn’t think DNA tests could do that. I thought it would just lead to the race of the original male line for the yDNA test and the origin of the female for the mtDNA test. Maybe I ought to take the DNA test . . . Wish I understood better what it was saying.
thanks
Vance

If you go to the search pedigrees and look at #642? Johnny D Walker, he explained some of his percentages. It could be good to get back to a common ancestor. I don’t have that male line on the Walkers for several generations but on the Hawkins, for you maybe it would be beneficial.
