I am wondering about this line again. Has anyone here heard of a Collinen Island in Wilkes County(guessing Georgia). I find it fascinating that a Gibson comes into the picture here on this too.
From Bill post #3 under “Looking”
“William Austin Webb’s parents would appear to be:
Austin Webb, b.1757 Albemarle Co., Va, d.1839 Walton Co., Ga;
who m’d April 1783 Elbert (then Wilkes) Co, Ga,
Ailsey WATERS, b. 1768, possibly in (SC)? d.1849 Walton Co., Ga, d/o Matthew Waters, b.abt. 1730 SC and Unknown.”
Looking for anything further on Matthew’s line. Thanks

“My e-mail response to Cheryl’s e-mail to me was returned – not deliverable – hence, I’m
posting this here, hoping to make contact with her or with anyone who might have further
information on Matthew Waters or Collison Waters.
Hello,
Thanks for your note about Mathew WATERS. The only thing I know about him is
that he received 2 grants of land (total 500 acres, part of it on Collinen
Island) in Wilkes in 1773, and he died in 1783. The administrator of his
estate was Nat. Bedingfield. This Mathew came to Wilkes from SC with 6 daus.
and 1 son. I am intrigued by the similarity of Collinen’s island and
Collison WATERS – it may mean nothing and I have not been able to find that
island in anything I have read about the area.
A Matthew Waters served on the first jury in Jackson Co., 1796, and is
possibly a descendant or related in some way. Matthew is a name that has
been used in our WATERS family and I feel there must be a connection.
My WATERS line is at the Family Tree Maker site:

I would love to share information.
There was a Collins WATERS in the 1820 & 1824 census/slave schedule for
Clarke Co., GA, and I wonder if he may be a son of Collison WATERS? I think
that family went to AL and I had thought there probably wasn’t a connection,
until I found out he would have been the correct age to be Collison’s son.
Thanks again. Look forward to hearing from you to see if there are any
WATERS names or associated names that sound familiar.

March 15, 2007 at 6:46 am #25434CollinsonWaters born around 1789 Cherokee Nation was married to Stacy Benton.
They had a Matthew Johnson Waters b.Aug.12, 1817 d. Oct 28, 1895Hall Co. GA
I am wondering if this may be the father to my Matthew Waters b. around 1730-ish S.C.? He was the father of Alice Ailsey Waters that married Austin Webb.
He is noted as having two tracks of land granted to him, for what I wonder. This land was located partially on an island called Collinen Island in Wilkes County, GA.
I haven’t been able to locate Collinen Island as yet.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
