OK, it is awful here today! The wind-driven snow (at least 6 inches in my back yard) just plain hurt walking to the train. I certainly was not driving today. My poor car looked like a snowVolkswagen this morning.

Oh Tech…it’s miserable across much of the country. Here in OH we already had 6.5 inches of snow on the ground and well below freezing temps…then last nite we landed another 3 inches and now it is freezing rain by the bucketload…my poor Cherry tree in the back yard is leaning against my siding and deck…the huge pine in the side yard is touching the ground in a sad sag….and the Bradford Pear in the front yard is contorting downward ready to snap I fear. The weight of this mess is wrecking havoc on alot of local power lines too…in anticipation of a power outtage we hauled wood inside today…baked like maniacs….and filled over 40 jugs with water. They expect this freezing rain to turn to snow overnite blanketing us with another 3-6 inches. So yeah….I’m hoping spring gets here right quick too. I saw some pics of New York and man alive…that was creepy. Keep warm y’all…we might be offline soon and reading by Kerosene lamps. Blessings from our frozen abode~~~Laurie
Here we are in Moorehead City, N C and we have had some cold weather but today was absolutely beautiful. Shirtsleeve weather with a bright sunny sky and even after some nights near the upper teens and lower 20’s those wonderful little frogs are still singing out here in the wetlands behind us. I only miss a good bowl of snow ice cream. You all be careful and stay warm and safe is our prayer . Ed
Hey Ed…thanks for the well wishes…and yes to the snow cream! My kids always go just bonkers when it snows because they knowwww well it is my fond childhood thing to do too…this week I made vanilla and also some peppermint….the vanilla is just yummy with a wee bit of creme de menthe drizzled over it…and tonite we’re having the peppermint with some fresh (from somewhere not here…LOL) raspberries…it always makes the weather less yucky. Someone recently told me that it is just unsafe to make it but heck, I’ve been eating it every winter for as long as I can recall. Thanks again…take care too~~~Laurie
Here in Minnesota we are finally above zero, but no snow lately. The subzero has kept the kids indoors, but it sounds like 20’s for the weekend, ooh heat wave.
Tropical heatwave has Eastern Washington into the mid 40s for a few days. The snow has completely melted from the lowlands. The only downside is that the sun makes only brief cameo appearances through the various cloud and fog layers each day.
We had wind and rain yesterday, but today, it was nice but windy. We’re supposed to get some more cold weather later on this week. We didn’t get to go out, except for a doctor’s appointment, for hubby to get his esophagus scoped out. He had some tiny ulcers and some infection, but now has the medicine he needs. I am getting tired of winter and rain, but we will probably need the rain later on in the year.
We are having a blizzard. It seems like winter will not let go, although I did see my first robin yesterday. Poor guy – hope he found a place to hide today.

I hope he found a place to hide, too. When we had the snow, ice and cold weather last week, hubby and I were feeding the wild birds. Hubby calls them “babies.” I like wild birds, too.
I got to see a wolf or a dog that looked a lot like a gray wolf in my back yard. It looked me right in the eye, but it didn’t seem menacing. Then like that, it was gone. I didn’t want him/her bothering my ducks and chickens Never saw one in real life before, and especially in this area. We do have a lot of deer in our area, so maybe it (the wolf) migrated here to feed on the deer.
