Just wondered where everybody has gone?
It is suppose to be HOT HUMID and MUGGY today here in New England. I thought I would roast yesterday and today and tomorrow is suppose to be worse. Guess I am not going anywhere but sit in front of the AC and say a prayer that we don’t loose power.
Hope everybody is okay.

August 9, 2001 at 10:53 am #4853Last year I remember the heat we had in Texas. We have had heat waves here for the past 3 years, uggg. Last summer I actuallt had a heat stroke from it after helping a friend move. Not good. Drink plenty of water and keep your head covered.
August 9, 2001 at 10:53 am #4854I was wondering when somebody would finally peep. Been checking everyday, but didn’t stop to drop a line. Got some good stuff coming, though, so stay tuned. I think I’ll call it the “X-Files of Genealogy.”
Heat’s been bad here, too, we’ve just been staying indoors, but everybody’s fine. Kids are in school already, but they say the long busride has been okay. Stay cool folks.
August 9, 2001 at 10:53 am #4855Linda,
I am having trouble trying to get the page to refresh. The little lights won’t go out. Is this my problem or is everybody having the same thing? Probably a stupid question but what can you expect this early in the morning.

August 9, 2001 at 10:53 am #4856My lights have never worked right. I have two forums on the same directory, a no/no with this software and that’s the side effect. I’ll change the settings. Let me know if it improves things or makes them worse. I can’t tell from my end. It never works right for me, I just use the link at the top for today’s topics. Works good if I remember to check at least daily.
I need to move the forum, but it’s no small undertaking, hence my procrastination. I’m working at reducing the size of the graphics, so that’s why things aren’t looking just right at the moment. We have too many slow pages on our server, which could hurt us with search engines, something I’m working on at present.
August 9, 2001 at 10:53 am #4857Linda, Have you checked my site out yet? I have a guestbook but can’t get people to use it…Was thinking of starting a forum on the Collins Research with the Saponi Melungeon Collins the main topic. There are so many of us searching the same thing that I thought it might help to share information. The problem is that I have had enough trouble just getting the guestbooks to work correctly..never tried a forum. Any thoughts on this?

August 9, 2001 at 10:53 am #4858Why don’t we start a forum here that you can moderate? What should we call it? Collins? Kentucky Saponi?
August 9, 2001 at 10:53 am #4859Where did that link go, Brenda. I forgot to click on it the day I saw it, now I don’t know where it is.

I added a forum from Bravenet to the “Collins Research” page. I hope it works and folks get use to using it.
Also last night out of the blue people started signing into the guestbook. Since I moved the site it is adveraging about 100 people a day, more or less.

August 9, 2001 at 10:53 am #4861I still didn’t find the forum or the new paper. Could you provide a direct link?
I did find this very detailed page on Collins, folks.
http://www.angelfire.com/wv2/dillon1944/meredith.htm
To do the direct link, Brenda, just get onto the page you want me to go to, copy the url at the top, then paste it in here.
August 9, 2001 at 10:53 am #4862The page the forum is on is the “Collins Research Page” http://www.angelfire.com/wv2/dillon1944/collinsresearch.htm
Click on Old Thomas Collins and read it carefully. I believe this could be my Meridia collins grandfather. I think Jack has done a great job of writting to understand.
