Native American genealogy research from the Piedmont of NC & VA
I am at a loss here. I must admit I had no idea I descended from William Daugherty and Elizabeth Bunch until yesterday around 4pm. I have read a load of information on William Daugherty and his descendants but I can figure out how anyone concluded Elizabeth was a Bunch. I am not even an amateur on this family yet, but from what I have read this surname has tons of documentation.
Another William Daugherty and Sarah Bunch seemed to migrate with the Cherokee in 1817. On the other hand the Bunch family IS of Native descent. From what century the Native Blood in originated in the Bunch family? I have no idea, I was banking on someone here telling me that.
William Daugherty abt 1712 IR. (said to have been an Indian agent) (brother was killed by a raiding party lead by Shawnee Chief Cornstalk)
Elizabeth Bunch born around 1720? (said to have been Cherokee but they supposedly married in Pennsylvania around 1735?)
Family lived in Augusta County VA around the 1750’s. Augusta County was the size of West Virginia in 1750. I have not been able to pinpoint their exact location.
If anyone could shed some light on this family I would appreciate it.
William
