hey brandon! good to hear from you! heres my poem you wanted to share:
BEN CLEVELANDS VISITORS
A story seldom ever ends
right where it began,
this story happened long ago,
and this is how it ran
Will Riddle was a tory
This cannot be denied
and this is how he lived his life
And this is how he died
Ben Cleveland was a patriot
And bloody was his blade
he killed young Williams sister
A sweet and lovely maid
Will captured Ben one fateful day
To bring him to be tried
But spent the night on Riddles knob
And that is why they died
Bens brother came and rescued him
or so the tale is told
from up there in the Wolfs den
so lonely and so cold.
They would have hung him then and there
But knew they had no right
So took them all to Wilkesboro
Arriving at first light
And Ben pronounced the sentence
For there at last he could
And hung all three upon a tree
of strong and deadly wood
and Happy and her children
all were made to stand and see
and after it was over
took William from the tree
she took them from that fearsome place
now in the world alone
she buried him as best she could
but where it is not known.
Then Happy took her babies and went to Tennessee
She raised em good
The best she could as far as she could see
but time rolls ever onward
as I’ve already said
and soon it past so very fast
and all of them were dead
yes time rolls ever onward
but memories don’t dim
bens heirs forgot the Riddles
they’ve not forgotten him
and so one day they visited
or so the story goes
and stood a moment silently
before they turned to go
I told you time moves on ward
There was nothing more to save
Still the sons of William riddle
came and pissed on clevelands grave
you may find it disrespectful
you may even judge it cruel
but I stood awhile with a semi smile
, and watched it make a pool.
And you might think it petty
But I can tell you this
I felt a whole lot better
I really had to piss.
glad if it gave you a chuckle!!!
