Native American genealogy research from the Piedmont of NC & VA
I was wondering if anyone out there had ever run across the names Winton, Wilson, Cozart, or Honnoll. My grandmother, Annie Magnolia Winton, Wilson was the daughter of Steven Winton, a civil war soldier, supposedly a Blackfoot Indian born in Tennessee, or North Carolina. I assumed this was erronious information because until now I did not know of Saponi Blackfoot or Blackfoot Cherokee. This is a great site.My older cousin said that our “Mommy’s” father was a chief and that they were gleaner people. I am sure that her mother was named Rhoda. What do we look like are there archival pictures? Thank you so much. Martha Beimer

Don’t recognize the names, but I don’t have much info on typical TN names, though there are a lot of Saponi Blackfoot descendants who were/are there. Welcome. We’re hoping to get a new board soon that will make it easy for people to submit pix. Stay tuned.
