on my grandfathers card there is an X under white and an X under Indian/Citizen. Can someone explain that to me.

The Indian heading has a place for citizen and non-citizen.

Hi Mary, nice to see you around. I haven’t heard of that, before, but it looks like an interesting piece of documentation. I guess on the face of it, someone adjudged him to be a bit of both, or perhaps it’s what he said about himself. I imagine you need to scare up an expert on WWI records.

that’s what i will do. I have no idea if the way I have it spelled is “correct”, it’s just what my father always called me so I spelled it as it sounded!
