Native American genealogy research from the Piedmont of NC & VA
I find this story very interesting as Mrs Yount speaks fluent Indian. In the beginning the “Indians” are peaceful, but at the end they are “treacherous.” Yount groups comes from Randolph Co NC. while the Ingles are from Pa. They marry in 1821 while Tecumseh died in 1812 and it is hard to determine when or if the Shawnee left or were assimilated.

Vivian,
Do you have any information or insight into the Ingles/English family that settled on the New River and ran the ferry? The story about Mary Ingles capture by the Shawnee is pretty well known in Appalachian circles, but I’ve just started wondering where this family lived and what their story was before migrating to the frontier. I’m guessing they came from PA, but any chance they or their ancestors were on the eastern shore of Maryland for awhile?
