Sorry, but I am not familiar with Cindy Lewis….I do know that my Grandaddy Alex Lewis’s 1/2 brother’s name was Alvis Lewis.

January 17, 2006 at 8:35 pm #18943I don’t recognize those names……Some other names she mentioned to me were:
Gene Lewis, whose son was:
Frank Lewis m. Callie Estelle Coleman, their son:
Bernard Lewis m. Shirley Mason, who are Cindy’s parents.

I think Harriet Blackwell Reed’s mother is Sallie, b. Feb 1859, NC, who had a Harriet and Joseph in her 1900 Mecklenburg Co., Va household, but I need to work on that some more.

January 17, 2006 at 8:35 pm #19414I hope all is well with you. I was asked by Linda and Barry to help do some research at the DC Articles and I need some assistance. Would you happen to know how I could start this exciting research journey. Remember I am very novice 😀

January 17, 2006 at 8:35 pm #19418It depends on what, or who and where you’re researching.
If you’re talking about doing research at the national archives, there are probably better people to ask about that than me.

I really don’t know my Granddaddy Lewis’s paternal side at all. My father’s name is Samuel Lewis but he was not born in 1835. 🙂
Also, it has been rumored that my Paternal Granddaddy’s last name was “really” Green and his father was a white man. We all know how it was in the south back then.
January 17, 2006 at 8:35 pm #28002I also have Lewis on my paternal side. I just know that my Grandfather was Orville Donald Lewis and he married Eva Mae Patton. That is all that I know on them. My Father is dead and both Grandparents, I can’t find any info from any one. I have been told of a Stumbo back some place with a Gilmore

Good Afternoon,
I really do not know much about my paternal great grandfather because my paternal grandfather was raised by his step father. Rumor is that Grand Daddy Alex Lewis’s father was a white man.
January 17, 2006 at 8:35 pm #28038I got some information from a family bible. My grandfather Orville Donald Lewis died in 1956 in Columbus Ohio, His parents were Solomon Lewis, who was said to be French Indian, Married Maranda Bell Lewis, they were from Wisconsin. My Grandma Lewis was Eva Mar Patton Lewis, her parents were Ambrose Patton, Mary Patton. Ambrose’s mother was Mary Stumbo Patton she died in 1946, but don’t know where. This is all that I have at the moment. I havne’t came across a link to your Lewis’, but it may be farther back.
