I assume Sterling “Price” Wright died sometime between 1902 (Rena’s birthdate) and about 1903-1904 (Grace’s marriage to Walter Reece). Ancestry.com only covers years 1877-1896 for Crawford County. If you are able to find the marriage licenses, sometimes they state how the 1st marriage ended, it might narrow down some information on Price Wright for you.
1910 Federal Census:
Whitley Twp., Crawford Co., Arkansas; ED# 17; May 11(?), 1910; sheet 15A; visit 262/262
Reece, Walter L., head, wm, 26, m’d 6 yrs, OK, MO, MO, farmer

—– Clarence C., son, wm, 2, AR, OK, KS, none
Wright, Rena M., step-daughter, wf, 8, AR, AR, KS, none
NOTE: 8 households away on the same page is Fred (age 61, b. VA) and Kate (age 59, b. OH) Kizer. Most likely these are Grace’s parents. They had been m’d 39 years with 11 children – 8 still living.
Here is one tree mentioning this family…

thank you for the information, I seen some where else, or maybe she had put NC for parents, did you see that?
I thought I was told Georgia. I thought also, that Fort Sabastian, was for the Indians back then. Thanks again
Lena,
I am not sure where to look for Nancy (b. Sept 1858 in Arkansas) and Price’s (b. August 1864 in Arkansas) parents. According to the 1910 census, Nancy said her mother and father were both born in California. In the 1900 census, Nancy said her father was born in Virginia and her mother in California, but Price said their father was born in California and their mother was born in Arkansas.
I think it was kind of unusual for a family to be moving from west (California) to east (Arkansas) in that timeframe. Maybe they went west for a while and came back “home” and that is why we can’t find them in the census records. I don’t know. I will have to look again and see how many people in Arkansas were born in California.
Do you have copies of Nancy’s marriage records? Sometimes (depending on location and years involved) information about their parents are included.

September 7, 2008 at 2:33 am #33369I too am looking for info on the WRIGHT Surname and its ties to Native American Ancestry. My Great, Great Grandmother was Elizabeth WRIGHT, CLICK, ACORD, REEVES she had a Sister Named Nancy WRIGHT. This family ended up around The areas in Arkansas that you mention above. I have to wonder if they were not in someway related. Please PM me if you have any info you would be willing to share. As the Elizabeth and Nancy WRIGHT I am looking for were born in North Carolina and are the daughters of Claiton WRIGHT and Anna SNIDER/WRIGHT. Thank you!
