To Bill……. Thank you for the kind words but without your assistance, example, and heart, we wouldn’t be doing what we are doing.
……… without the desire of the ancestors to be found, we would not have the phenomenal success that we have been blessed with.
btw….. a dragonfly was circling the van this afternoon as soon as we parked…… he acted impatient while we were getting coveralls and boots and stuff on…. then he made a beeline through the trees as we locked the van and turned our attention to him 😉

July 27, 2005 at 8:43 pm #15937Standing at the grave sites of Samuel Winston and Amanda Hicks Winston (gg) and probably Chesley and Martha Hicks (ggg) and probably James and Barbara Collins (gggg) was one of the most incredible experiences of my life. I never dreamed when I started this search that such would be possible. (Bill, I got a cell phone call while there saying that my husband was sick, which interrupted the time there and delayed this post. I give thanks that he is better now.) The incredible efforts of Ken and Becky are beyond words. We were in deep woods. Ken had taken a weed eater to cut a path and big cloppers of some sort to make it possible to get through. But on top of that, Ken had taken flowers for Amanda’s grave and a flag for Samuel’s. I still get teary remembering. Bill, wish you could have been there with us to witness what these two have done, and also because of your gift to this effort. I am not sure I would have picked up the Collins connection–and certainly would not have known the importance of that connection without you. I am deeply grateful for this gift. I can’t wait to go back. I know I have new cousins of my heart even if we never find the blood connection–and I have no doubt that is there!
I did pick up some more information on this trip which I will give you in a separate post later. Again, thank you, thank you, thank you. Roberta
