click on “archives of Maryland online” and it’ll take you here —

In the upper right hand corner of the page there is a search rectangle. There are 4 references to Nottoway (about Nottaway warriors in the French and Indian War), 4 for Blackfoot (all about the building of a road) dated in the 1790s. This is the same time frame that the Blackfoot Church came into being in Pike County, Indiana. Saponi and Tutero are not mentioned, unfortunately. I haven’t searched for much else. This means 2 documented references to the word “Blackfoot” exist in the 1790s, one in Maryland and one in Indiana.
Oh there were many references (about 40 I think) when I put — Dagworthy Indian — in the search box. No time to look through it, tho.

Here’s something further interesting about your site : http://www.mdarchives.state.md.us/megafile/msa/speccol/sc2900/sc2908/000001/000031/html/am31–227.html Here we find reference to Cherokee working with Dagworthy.

Dagworthy? I’ve never heard of them! Please tell me of this group of people.
This is very interesting. I looked at your above link and see what you are referring to. I need more time to FULLY look at it. It may take me a day or two and then again may not! I’m intrigued!:) How cool is this? Love & Light, Lynella.
January 24, 2005 at 12:13 am #13321I believe he was a military man who fought the Indians, but I too need to look more at it.
I recall an earlier discussion of a town of “Blackfoot” and I was thinking its name was changed to Dagworthy, but I nmight have forgotten or gotten it wrong.
By using the 2 words in teh search I was just trying to get all references to this man where the word “Indian” was also in the link.

ps — here’s something
where Dagsworthy is mentioned.

Thank you a bunch! This is really interesting. You have my full attention, only I have a couple of things I gotta’ do here before I can get back on and really check out those links. Kerry and I are looking for Pike county land records and such. We’ll have some time soon, I think. I really am into finding as much documented/dated material as I can get my hands on! I also found my Uncle Oran Robert Kinder. He’s 73, living alone in Michigan. I’m going to send him another letter and see if he has any recolections for us!;) Thank you again, Cuz! Love & Light, Lynella.

🙂 Thank you guys! That was fascinating! I’m going to read through it all again tonight before bed. I poked around on that site Vance. I wanted to find actual maps, but didn’t. Although I did find an index of maps which did have some interesting info listed. We’d have to have someone go to MD. On a field trip to see the maps. Sounds like a mission for Kerry! I’ll keep looking around for old maps of Maryland. I really want to find this stuff! You’ve got my mind working in the midst of an oncoming migrain, so it’s really racing! I think I’ll go get the Advil!:) Love You Guys, Lynella.
