I did find Joshua M. (Moses) Harlow, b.abt.1837, on the 1850 Albemarle Co Va census. His mother is Martha (either a CAROL or a FERGUSON), b.1800 Albemarle Co., Va. She’s a widow in 1850 so I’m digging around in the 1840 census and marriage records but I have a couple of candidates for his father. These Harlow’s were previously in nearby Fluvanna Co for a long period of time.
Henrietta Larkins’ mother Nancy Bell McCoy was born 1795 in Washington Co., Md., and marr’d John Larkins on 28 March, 1812 in Washington Co., Md., he appears to have been born in the 1790’s in Penn. Nancy Larkins was also a widow in 1850.
I’ll post all information on the “Share Genealogy Research” section of the Forum and list it as “Joshua Harlow”.

p.s. Wilfred L. Harlow and his sister Belle (marr’d Charles G. Repass) and their families all moved from Oklahoma to Brazos Co Tx between 1913 and 1917.

I well start posting on the share information forum next. That information along with the other information I have recieved from my friends here has been most helpful. I spoke with an aunt and she said that the harlows mentioned here are my ancestors. I am hoping to find Native ancestors with these families. As long as they lived in Virginia you would think that I would find them in the family. So far only on my fathers side. I do have a much older cousin who said that she was told there was. I’ll just keep following the trails. Thank you so much for your help. God bless.

I found Joshua Harlow and his family on census records from 1850 thru 1900 (excepting 1890 which don’t exist for most counties) and some of his kids and their families thru 1930 and I’ll continue to chew on the records prior to 1850 and let you know what I found, soon.
I’ve just run into spelling variations that by process of elimination, turn out to be Harlow’s, too, instead of the usual “throw-aways”, (Darn’ th’ luck!) none of which answer your direct, central question of who Joshua’s parents were …. yet.

p.s…. also developed a less extensive line on Chesley/Chesly Rogers/Rodgers, b.abt.1755 Orange Co., Private, mustered into Gen. Andrew LEWIS’s Volunteers, Captain William NALLE’s (‘ search’ NALLE or NALL) Company from Augusta Co., mustered September 1774, whose unit fought at Point Pleasant Oct 10, 1774, “Soldiery of West Virginia”, Pg. 30 (the “ultimate” source being the “Draper Manuscripts”). He’s on the Greenbrier Co. Tax List of 1786., probable son of John Rogers, b.abt.1716, d. 1763 Culpepper Co., and Ann _?_.

James, b. 1749.
John, b. 1753.
Joseph, b. 1756, d. 1823; m’d Mildred _?_.
Elizabeth Sarah, b. 1759.
Margaret, b. 1762.
(siblings per WFT vol. 151, Tree 1729, from a descendant of the Joseph, b. 1756, and Mildred. Maybe a little “shaky”, but a major clud due to the limited geographic spreading of this surname in the “valley” region of Virginia at this time.)

This unit ultimately mustered at Fort Union, which after another name change, became Lewisburg, (W) Va., coinciding with Brenda’s COOK’s earliest point researched so far.

Hi,
I am new to this site. I see this post is a few years old, but I am also trying to find info on my ggg grandmother Henrietta Larkins Harlow (my gg gram was her daughter Virginia Signora, and my g gram her daughter Winifred Virginia). I’ve found Henrietta and her husband Joshua M on various census records as living throughout VA, but I saw an unsourced reference to her moving to OK around 1900-1905 and her place of death listed as South McAlester Indian Territory, OK. I am trying to find a source for this, as well as info on her parents and what her Native Am connection is.
