Native American genealogy research from the Piedmont of NC & VA
Well one that i heard as a young boy in my family from my grandmother and great aunt that their father my great grand father Henry Thornsberry’s grand father on the Thornsberry side married an indian woman. Well That turns out to be Issac Thornsberry born 1795 Scott Co. Va. his parents were John Thornsberry and Susannah Starnes and he married Eleanor McCubbins. all i know is she was born 1803 in Scott Co. VA and thats it. I had no luck with the McCubbins name. Does any one know a good site for “bound out records” I would like to check that out. I always heard alot of young indian girls would be servant girls for the white families and end up with a white name and the host families surname.

There were McCullins who left the Person co part of old Granville co, NC about the same time as the Collins, Gibson, Bunch group moved from Granville to Surry,NC and Scott, Va circa 1750. The McCullins may well have gone to Scott co, Va and they quite possibly were mixed bloods.
