Is this a Canadian Nazca Line type image? Or a Cydonia type (“Face on Mars”) image? …. Or just a natural phenomena?
I’d supply the link, but Google Earth doesn’t have that capability. So, go to Google Earth, find 50 degrees 00’38.20″ N and 110 degrees 06’48.32″ W and tell me what you see? Zoom in to about 5,000 ft “Eye altitude” (the lower right side of your screen shows “Eye altitude”) for the best view.
(It’s in Alberta, Canada near the Saskatchewan border, northwest of the town of Walsh).
He looks like the Indian in the “Indian Head” penny to me.

I haven’t really used Google Earth. I downloaded it, but got a message when I tried to run it that it wasn’t a valid MS program. Weird. Oh well, I’ll try again later.
I was going to try and do a screen capture. Maybe somebody else can.

I’ve been well. Hope you have too. These days, not having much to say or add to the conversation, I mostly lurk. But Saponitown is still my favorite site…. which I read at least once every other day.

I was playing around with Google Earth just now and was able to e-mail myself an image of the “Nazca Lines” type Indian. However, I can’t post a link. But, if you (or anyone else) e-mail(s) me (via Saponitown e-mail) with your/their regular everyday e-mail address, I’ll forward the image to you/them.

The main photo is not as distinct as the lower right inset photo. Use the lower right inset photo to position and to zoom in.

You got me going on the maps last night. I came across this great interactive map for our family research. You can enter your Surname and come up with oodles of place names of all variety bearing that name. The site is filled with many features, even under-ocean and will take awhile to explore.
I entered my Goldsberry. From the list I chose Goldsberry Cemetery in Lincoln Co. WV. Then Chose Google Maps and switched it to Satellite and in the image that comes up, in the shapes of the vegetation, different forms pop out to me that look like Aztec or Mayan Images engaged in battle.

Silliness aside this is a productive and useful tool for locating geographical sites associated with specific family, tribal, historic, river or place names etc. Entering “Blackfoot” brings up Dagsboro DE, Blackfoot Church IN and also a Blackfoot Mine in IN Pike Co. I don’t remember hearing of before. And the lesson is too much research can cause halucinations. (:eek:)
Geez, we could cook up a whole new occult science finding ghosts on google earth. What fun.

It opens slowly for me. Maybe it’s a matter of enabling javascript or something. I found that in a post in the siouan-list archives by someone locating historic tribes. It all comes together.

Ft Christiana = Google Earth = 36 degrees 42′ 52.28″ North by 77 degrees 52′ 21.61″ West (more of less).
Ft Christana is due south of Lawrenceville, VA (follow Rt. 46 south across the Meherrin River) and then go west on Fort Hill Road about two or three miles. The fort is on the north side of the road, about a quarter mile south of the Meherrin River. You can use the GNIS Database street map to find the roads, and then switch to the satellite map to see the actual topography.
Those lines are not lines but rather where the earthhas eroded away causing small valley’s to form we call them “coullees”, I live not far from here, Black foot mine was posted by Lynella years ago.
