Bertie County had lots of Tuscarora people. I know the Saponi were there for a bit, but the more recent history, that still persists, is a Tuscarora presence. Have you investigated them at all?

Some remnants of them are in Ohio. I have links for you to start getting you acquainted Jen. My family orginated from the BERTIE, Co; NC Group, but my Family, the Green’s ended up migrating into Ohio.

mine are all from the Saponi and Catawba unions beginning in early 18th century Halifax/ Lunenburgh and Orange Counties, of VA… after Ft. Christanna was abandoned; we moved into Bertie Co, NC, Orange Co, SC, Carter Co, TN, Manchester, KY and Saponi camps in Southern and North Eastern Ohio. Though it is my understanding many of us come from the Same Greens, but by brothers who emigrated from Ireland and England and were close with the Sizemore. Harts, Griffins, and Aresenau Families. I don’t know much of the Berkeley Co. Group, but would be willing to explore with you. Some of the SURNAMES you have GENETICALLY MATCH me as cousins by DNA. Feel free to e-mail me,

Grandfather Bolling, Estep, Dugger, Griffin, Brown, and Arsenau l/ Arsenault.
