Town Creek pow wow was fantastic. A day filled with good dancing, good drumming…good fellowship…and good weather. There were two vendors, so you could have that buffalo burger or indian taco. And there were about 5 vendors, but you still had quite a selection of things to buy. And it being held right there on the mound site where so many others have lived before…all I can say is WOW! And Rick was his usual self…making sure that things were kept lively. There were quite a few specialty dances…and some honor dances….we were thrilled that so many came into the circle to honor our granddaugher, Maecyn, when we took her into the circle for the first time. And sharing that dance was Rick Cassidy’s grandbaby, Shianne Maree, as well…with her parents.
If you get a chance to go, please visit the museum and their displays. They have recreated one of the burials for the public to see. I understand that Bill and Susie Gingriss will be doing a presentation for the school children in a few weeks, teaching backwoods survival skills.

Don’t think we will be going to Surry today, either. Between the gas situation and the aging body, we will have to skip this one this year. It would be nice if they could find a date that doesn’t coincide with two other pow wows, which spread everyone a little thin. May be next year.
And I know we won’t be attending Chickahominy, either….that’s our anniversary weekend. So we will be staying at home that weekend…
