Hey Bee,
Yep, we will be coming from the Greenboro area, hope to meet up with Ken and Becky around the 19th, and on to Courtland from there. Caravaning sounds like a great idea, if we can pull it together.:)

June 16, 2007 at 3:06 pm #27306Kpatrice – ok, so you were some of the smarter folks….hehehe. It was hot out there for sure. We set up our canopy and it got full really quick..which is fine, we enjoyed the company which was mostly dancers.
Bee – you can camp on the fairgrounds property, probably. It is open on Friday night and find Chief Walt and ask. Or call the number listed above beforehand. I would love to see the pictures of the potato dance…they didn’t do that on Saturday…they did do a candy dance for the kids along with the Canoe dance.
I had the same problem with the pictures, and then when I went back to the website, they were full size…go figure?
June 16, 2007 at 3:06 pm #27307We haven’t decided yet if we will be going up on Friday night or early Saturday morning…depends on Ken’s work load, mostly. We will probably be staying in Franklin at one of the hotels there…the one in Courtland fills up fast….it’s a great mom and pop place run by the locals.

I have some photos from Sunday. Did they do the potato dance Saturday? That was fun to watch!
Yes, they did the potato dance on Saturday.
The pictures can be viewed larger. I believe the screen that’s coming up for you shows the thumbnails to the left of the screen. Just to the right of the thumbnails maybe about near the second row of thumbnails there are 2 button options “Next” and “Cancel” click “Cancel” and you should be taken to page that gives you the option on how you would like to view. Once at this page at the top left you can click either “Thumbnails”, “Filmstrip” or “Slide show” view. Click “Filmstrip” to have control over viewing.

Once we set up under the tree other people came over and sat with us as well. Every time there was a shift in the shade we all would all orchestrate a move so that everyone could stay in the shade. I can only image how we all looked to other people moving around the tree.
HP Photo share can sometimes be a little weird. I had that happen after I first uploaded and then viewed the photos myself. Just try clicking the “cancel” button just to the right of thumbnails if it happens again. It should take you to the full size photos.

Kelley,
Thanks for sharing the wonderful photos:) .
June 16, 2007 at 3:06 pm #27335Thanks, Kelley. Nice photos!
Shirley, looks like you’ll be heading out of GBO a couple days ahead of us. Feel free to holler this way if you want to get a cup of coffee or something while you’re in the triad. Or, we’ll probably see ya in Courtland.
For anyone else who is thinking about camping, I inquired about that. No can do camping on the fairgrounds, but they’ll let me know if there’s something else near-by. If any of you know a place (for 2 small tents), please let me know.
June 16, 2007 at 3:06 pm #27336Ok, I guess that was my error. I thought I had seen others camping there…maybe that’s just dancers and vendors. What day are you thinking of going up there?
June 16, 2007 at 3:06 pm #27338No big. We’re sure to find a spot somewhere. We’ll probably try to get going early Saturday morning. Figure it’s about a 4 hour drive, give or take.

What wonderful pictures, thanks for sharing.:)
June 16, 2007 at 3:06 pm #27345Well, we reserved camping at the Enfield KOA, NC; it is just off 95, which puts us about an hour from Courtland. We have a 30 ft. travel trailer, so we didn’t want to take a chance on finding a campground closer…maybe when the rest of the chicks have flown, we can go back to tenting, which I perfer…except in torrential downpours…looking forward to meeting you all.:)

June 16, 2007 at 3:06 pm #27364That’s a good idea, Shirley. We are thinking about a campground along the way, as well. So far, our Google search has yielded a B&B in Franklin and a nudist camp!
Chief Brown replied again and said to check with him (or other crew) when we arrive. That sounds like a very adventurous option, and strangely appealing.
Anyway, Woo-hoo, now that I’ve told my pals all about this pow-wow, I think they’re going with or without me. So I look forward to seeing y’all there!

Bee,
The adventure sounds fun and my husband and I would probably risk it if it were just the two of us, but with 3 kids, we play it safe and book a KOA in advance:D . Look forward to seeing you.

June 16, 2007 at 3:06 pm #27375I hear ya, there!
How old are your children? One of the friends traveling with me has a 7 yr. old grandson who is ready for his first pow-wow. I’m not sure whether he will come to this one, or wait for something closer to us. It is a treat to watch the children dancers.
Anyway, I’m happy for you and your family, getting to go to your first together.
