Just wondering if anyone else has any male ancestors with the first name of Woolery?
We have a few of them, and I’ve always thought it was rather unusual…..sort of a KY way of saying “woolie”.
I have Ulms, with endless variations on the spelling, including Woolam. A good many of those cousins are in KY. I was on an Ulm list at one time. I’m thinking it’s from Genealogy.com. If searching doesn’t turn it up, let me know and I’ll see if I can track it down.

another scenario is that was a surname in the family and they carried it on from the female side as a first name to keep it in the family. Example, Littleberry is a VA Colonial Eppes name. It was the maiden name of one of the wives and subsequently, the first name of many generations, white and ndn. You may also find it as a middle name.
