Yes, we were just in the area and I am in email contact with a researcher that will be using the DNA info I had done previously to see if my Wilsons connect with the Lost Colony/Croatoans.

We thought about attending the play, but, the tickets need to purchased in advance and the weather wasn’t the best in the world for being outside. The last performance is August 20th.

Man, what an awesome weekend!! Even though the weather was hot, dancing to five drums and having the Eagle whistle blown twice was just as intense as the sun’s rays.
This was a wonderful pow wow, and I hope they do the same thing again next year. There were many vendors selling everything from dolls to herbal medicine. There were two food vendors. The pow wow is held on the fairgrounds so there are flushing toilets…an important detail for those that pow wow. The emcee was changed at the last minute…Jimmie Wooten did a good job at pinch hitting. Even the rain delay on Sunday didn’t stop the pow wow….dancing around the fire after dark was so neat.
There is limited camping available as well. We enjoyed seeing many different types of dancing such as the buffalo dance, eagle dance, smoke dance, broom (ugly man) dance, candy dance, alligator dance, and enjoyed sharing the culture of other tribes. This is one to mark as ***** in our books….and put on the calendar for next year.
