Just wanted to add to this… If you use photobucket, they have an “avatar” choice for crop, which will get your pic just the right size…However, you will still need to upload your photo (to photobucket) from your personal files. The account is free by the way…

November 11, 2006 at 4:05 pm #25429Please tell us about all of the people in your beautiful new avatar.
😮 I’d like to take this que to confess mine is an older picture of me with my oldest son who is now grown. I like to think I still look much the same, with a few normal changes of course. My hair is the same though lighter with the gray blended in.

Wachinika,
your’s is a beautiful picture, your son looks much like you. The photo on my Avatar was taken last Sunday at my grandaughter’s dedication, with her is my son and myself. She is just a jem and reminds me so much of her father (except for her brilliant blue eyes, her father’s are brown), when he was a baby. Thanks for asking:) .
November 11, 2006 at 4:05 pm #25447Yes, a most excellent photo. Fifty years from now somebody is going to have it framed over the mantel.
In case anybody who sees my avatar wonders, I don’t have a short right leg. I was helping my grandson, then 16 months old, walk on a cracked sidewalk. So I’m bent over. (It was the only photo in my digital camera that had me in the picture — normally, I’m the one taking the photos.)

Pappy,
Knowing this adds new meaning to your photo:) …grandchildren are a blessing!

November 11, 2006 at 4:05 pm #25453Thank you Shirley. Such a little sweetheart; I see Daddy is completely charmed already.
Pappy, it seems you were faced with the same decision I was. My eyes are less closed in that photo than most and it would have looked curious to be leaning into nothing if I cropped it. I’d imagined you were stacking firewood or doing some yardwork; a man on the go. The real story sounds the most fun.
And 1_optimistic where are you with your charmingly beautiful avatar? I do enjoy so much looking at the pictures and the family photos. I tried to model my family postings after yours. Your family is exceptionally good looking! This is a wonderful place.:)

Thanks so much for the compliment Wachinika. 😀 😀 I never got a response regarding my family photos, so I assumed no one really cared what they looked like. Again, thanks. 🙂
November 11, 2006 at 4:05 pm #25462Isn’t it a wonderful thing how our website is composed of such a beautiful blending of talent, wit, beauty (both inner and outer), and brains…..wish I could keep up with all the postings…but, alas, they took away my extra hour of reading time….sorry I missed the photos the first time.
November 11, 2006 at 4:05 pm #25467Optimistic,
I didn’t see them when they were posted either. They may not have shown up for too long if there were a lot of other posts happening then. I only recently came upon them.

The women are all so pretty and I love your father as a little boy in that big hat. It looks like it could be a painting. I was Fine Arts student at the University for several years. I especially appreciate portraiture.
As for inner and outer beauty, I see it all as one and the same. Manifestation of all things good is what I mean when I use the word beautiful, like positive……or Optimistic!
I’ve identified with many things you’ve said in your postings and always enjoy hearing about the interesting things you’re up to.
It’s Good You Are Here!

Erica,
Wachinika is right, you have a very beautiful family. The women in the photos are beautiful; I can see that beauty in you. I really love old photos, we get just a glimpse of another time and place. I too, have enjoyed your posts.
I have some amazing photos of my uncles (maternal) loading hay…the hay is heaped up so high on the old trucks, you can only see a small portion of the hood. They also worked for the forest service in the 30’s (Glacier Park); I have photos of them hauling logs (one hung over each side of a pack-horse), and leading them like a train through the mountains. If I can get them scanned I will post them…It would be neat to see other’s family photos posted here.
Thanks Wachinika for helping me to slow down and appreciate the beauty of the people here, it is easy to get wrapped up in research…until it is all you see. It is the beauty and character of all here that bring life to Saponitown.:)

Hi Sue,
The first photo of you came through…you are very pretty. Was this photo taken at a Pow wow? It looks as if you are wearing a traditional dress? I have read some posts here of some of you making your own dresses…pity I cannot sew…was not one of my giftings. I could not bring up the second photo, it looks as if the address is not complete? Glad you located the photobucket.:)

November 11, 2006 at 4:05 pm #25488The same happened with me, saj. I tryed your Father first and it didn’t open. Then opened yours, tryed his again and it opened right up the 2nd time. It’s fun to see the family resemblances. We all look so familar. I’d miss if you changed your avatar saj. It always takes me to that perfect sunny day.
Regarding regalia I just made it to this nice site today. These are awsome and reasonably priced. I like choosing the styles with less Colonial influence.

I’m so enjoying your “avatar slide-show”, Shirley! Your Granddaughter looks alot like my sons did. The oldest was darker and the youngest has dark blond hair with eyes the same color, dark blond and both with those sweet large eyes.

Thank you Wachinika, I am getting more photos saved and this one shows her big expressive eyes, which fit her personality to a tee. I will try Sue’s photos again.
