I get all mixed up when I start looking at all of the marriages between everyone.
Ain’t that the truth! Some of them are still intertwining, at least in these parts.
;~)
Saj, would like to hear more about this Grant Allen married to Ware sisters, Mt. Tabor, etc. The old books list a Frances Ware in my Branch line (md Matthew, son of Thomas, son of Christopher), but some more recent genealogists have said that there is no evidence she ever existed. If she did, she “may have been the sister of Caleb Ware”. Think that quote is from “Branch of Henrico” by James Branch Cabell.
Oh, now we can share the same headache. I believe some of the Cabell family ended up in Pittsylvania/Henry Co, VA. The Gowen/Going/Goins family have also been there a long time. Not news…just trying to put thoughts together.
September 17, 2007 at 6:24 pm #29105Beeleaf,
Looking at the Ware family, it looks like the first known is Peter Ware and wife Mary Hickes/Hix. In York co VA, Queen’s creek by 1646. In 1657 Peter Ware and Mary 220 acres in Westmoreland co on the Upper Machoatick river near Indian Towne. The Ware sisters of Grant Allen go back to this same group and several people were showing Frances you mentioned married to Matthew Branch as a daughter of Nicholas Ware and Elizabeth Garrett. Some of the records confuse Nicholas Sr and Jr. and what I saw said that the early Peter Ware’s parents are uncertain. As to Grant Allen, the two sisters he married are daughters of Thompson Ware son of James Ware and Catherine Todd. I have to hunt more on the Mount Tabor Indian community of Texas. I don’t know how or why this connects yet. Saj

September 17, 2007 at 6:24 pm #29114Beeleaf,
I have been totally intrigued with the Mt. Tabor group. Look for new posting on. This is what we talked about on the forum in the past..about migrations. There are pockets of groups such as this Mt. Tabor one where many family roots go right back to Va/NC/Pa..I will post what I found on a new thread. Saj

I see some connections here! And no I hadn’t seen those links before. Thanks.
Is it Sarah Roper Powell you’re talking about? Some of this has me lost. Where does Ludovic Grant fit in? I got completely sidetracked looking at all of this. Saj
September 17, 2007 at 6:24 pm #29339Magnolia, where”s your Captain Harris from? We have Thomas Harris’s in our line and I’ve wondered about Capt. Harris’s I’ve seen around.
Have you posted a summary of the lines you’re researching anywhere here? I tried looking up your old posts but didn’t spot anything like that.
I see you’ve got Powell’s. I have some on a side line that was very Indian.

I’ve been studying Jones/Branch/Batte,etc. lines since April.
I did some charts. trying to ‘connect the dots’.
Apparently, Wm Jones brother of Peter and Richard never married but I found an entry about him. I have to find it.
One line: Peter Jones and Margaret( Llewellyn/Powell ?)Wood ( step daughter of Major General Abraham Wood).
I just found an incredible site with all Jones marriages and some births in Bristol Parish.
