July 10, 2005 at 2:25 am #19514Hi Chris!
How are you?
I think you may get the notification of posts like I do? I’m guessing. This last posting was just for intertwining, if that makes any sense. 🙂 🙂 Sue J
July 10, 2005 at 2:25 am #31386All this Collins activity……. thought I would bring back my Collins info. Read from the first post. This is a good intertwined thread
July 10, 2005 at 2:25 am #31391Boy, that is one twisted braid.
Have nothing particularly relevant to add. Bumpass is a familiar surname, though. They were our neighbors in Collinsville. ;~)
July 10, 2005 at 2:25 am #31909I have just met a new cousin when I showed her our John Lunsford cemetery. She gifted me with copies of the complete archived file of the Gabriel Jones intestate transactions. It is a treasuretrove of facts. Hundreds of pages of relationships, inventory, powers of atty, and other papers generated when Gabriel died without a will or heirs, therefore the Granville Court of Equity had to find the children and grandchildren of the siblings of Gabriel and disburse the proceeds of his estate sale to them all. Fascinating stuff.

July 10, 2005 at 2:25 am #31918Here are some items in Gabriel’s household inventory. Does anybody know what any of these items would be and do in 1835?
1. demijohn
2. hackle
3. flap wheel
4. spider
point of interest…. ‘3 negros’ are listed in household inventory
July 10, 2005 at 2:25 am #31919A demijohn is a big jug. I guess half a “john”?
A hackle is used in processing flax. http://www.aca-dla.org/cdm4/item_viewer.php?CISOROOT=/LMU&CISOPTR=48&REC=8
A spider is a cast iron frying pan with legs, for cooking in an open fire.
Never heard of a flap wheel. Wonder if it has something to do with spinning?
I love these old lists.
July 10, 2005 at 2:25 am #31943Looking at Jones because of Tanner lines.
Looks like Ambrose goes back to Robert the son of Richard? Richard born circa 1663 died in Brunswick co Va 1747. Indian trader. These Jones are mixed into this intertwining of the Thornton, Clack, etc. including the Tanner’s. Saj
July 10, 2005 at 2:25 am #37109Chris……. Bringing this back. This thread shows migration from Albemarle,VA to Granville, NC and at least one Jones/Whitfield union. I thing these people will connect with your DNA people.
