Shirly,
My wife’s great grandmother’s maiden name was Victoria Blackwell and was said to a blackfoot indian. Victoria was married to a Dowless and lived in North Carolina. My wife’s maiden name was Dowless. I am trying to trace the Blackwells back to the midwest or high plains. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

I have one Blackwell listed in my tree…Elizabeth b. 1662 Maryland, m. John Baynard. I have no parents listed for her…
The Blackwell name has come up here a few times…use the search function at the top and look for Blackwell, then use the member’s list to contact Blackwell researchers, good luck!

I spotted some Andersons here and there, but not in my direct line and were from the 1800’s. I have no idea about them.
I wasn’t trying to be funny about the Mary comment, there was just so many of them that it is odd and gets confusing.
Another indirect “tie-in” Adkins family…that ties into my Hale line (connects to the Meador/Meadows line) indirectly as well…of interest is the Ballengee family. And another I am curious about is the Gill family also. So on top of my Fry line which was predominantly married into my Adkins line, and indirectly in the same line. I have been wondering quite alot lately. Eventually things will make sense, at least I hope. All are said to have native connections, it’s just sifting through and figuring out everything…then figuring out which native groups they tie into.
Makes my head hurt thinking about it all.

Sorry Steve, I have to laugh myself or I would go crazy trying to sift through family data….kind of like reading the book of Numbers…Please take no offense…
You say you have Meadows?? I think that is Dreaminghawk’s line. Have you talked to him about his Meadows, if I recall they are out of VA.
You also listed Skidmore’s, well my father’s step father Ellison Bragg was connected to Skidmore’s. I will post a cute picture of my dad (the little dark guy) and his sisters (my aunts, who I adore) and Skidmore/Bragg cousins.
I will see continue to see if I can find anything new on the Adkin’s…

However the Adkins/Bromwell as parents of Wm. Adkins (Eliz. Parker) is not proven, and is the LDS “final word/best fit” I mentioned earlier.

March 30, 2006 at 9:44 pm #29707East Lynn Lake…
My mother is from East Lynn. To be more precise, the remains in graves were moved out from the town of Stiltner (though I am sure they probably missed a few people) and were moved to other graveyards in Wayne Co. Homes were tore down, and Stiltner was flooded to create the East Lynn Lake.
