It was indeed good brought out alot of history that has not been told but one of the things i like best about it was the people were still carrying the woodland self bow, noticed some beautiful authentic river cane arrow quivers.
When the people stopped using the bow and took up the gun that was just another sign of the times and the downward spiral of things to come, i really appreciate who ever made these weapons there is very few bow makers left.

November 24, 2008 at 7:16 pm #33584We recorded it to watch when things are a bit calmer. Ken was busy working on his deer hides. And we are both trying to get regalia ready to go to Frisco.
November 24, 2008 at 7:16 pm #33588Thought it was great and am looking forward to the next 4 showings.
November 24, 2008 at 7:16 pm #33595I saw the first episode this past Monday it was really good. The schedule in the Georgia area is:

All dates are on Monday and it begins at 9:00pm each night.
Second episode is on Tecumseh, Third-Trail of Tears, Forth-Geronimo and Last one-Wounded Knee. It seems like it’s going to be a great series.:) Whitehawk
November 24, 2008 at 7:16 pm #33596The cost of the DVD is reasonable too. I looked on the PBS website.

November 24, 2008 at 7:16 pm #33597I’ve learned so much already! It’s actually worse than I expected or knew previously. It really is sad. I want to cry for my peoples’ suffering……and at the same time be so proud for their endurance. The human race has much to pay for.
I look forward to the rest of the episodes, and hope to buy the DVDs too. This gives me strength to fight and stand for what is right, and look to the Creator for all that I need.
Didn’t mean to say all that:o……but, thanks again Greywolf for giving us a heads up!!!
November 24, 2008 at 7:16 pm #33615Just wanted to remind All, tonite at 9:00~10:30 is the 2nd of this 5 part show.PBS
November 24, 2008 at 7:16 pm #33616sooo……….. is anybody watching the NA concerts after the shows or is that just something WUNC is doing?
November 24, 2008 at 7:16 pm #33619Up here in Yankee Land they showed a nice documentary on Schemitzun, which is the Mashantucket Pequot celebration of green corn and dance.
Anyone within striking distance of Connecticut this summer might want to consider this very large gathering. There are typically thousands of dancers, and the Grand Entrance is sure to get anyone’s attention. Personally it leaves me unable to speak for a little while.
Lots of traders, big drums, food, etc.
November 24, 2008 at 7:16 pm #33620Did you just say food? 🙂
November 24, 2008 at 7:16 pm #33621LOL yes I said food.
November 24, 2008 at 7:16 pm #33623In NC, after the first episode was a Brule concert. After the second episode was Robert Mirabal- “Music from a Painted Cave”. Both concerts were fantastic. The blend of traditional and contemporary instruments, dance and ideas is a fine example of living in two worlds in harmony.
November 24, 2008 at 7:16 pm #33632Cool. Set the vcr for a little more than the show. Hope it got some of the music. Haven’t had time to watch the second one yet. The first was pretty good.
November 24, 2008 at 7:16 pm #33646It is a great PBS series. I wish they would have a bit more about the the Carolinas and Virginia are.
November 24, 2008 at 7:16 pm #33647I would’ve loved more on the VA and NC Indians too……and also the concerts Dreaminghawk refers to…..and I missed tonight’s episode! The Trail of Tears was the main one I wanted to see. The DVDs will do just fine though.
