Reminder that this is tomorrow…come out and join us…there will be craft and food vendors, along with dancing and drumming…no charge!!
The date for the Cheroenhaka Nottoway powwow has been moved to Nov. 5 & 6.
Sorry about that….was trying to hurry up and do it at work. Will try to do better next time. The Meherrin powwow is that weekend but they don’t do many intertribals. Will post the info on that in case someone wants to go.
Thanks
Becky
I hope we can meet up and dance together!

Although I have been reading for some time, this is the first time I have been able to sign in in years. It felt strange to go to my page and see posts from Rick….he was more than a friend, he was my brother….we met here on Saponitown over 8 years ago…danced together for the first time at Town Creek Indian Mound…and camped together for years…all the while watching our grandchildren enter the circle and carry on our tradition of dancing and celebrating our heritage. It is hard to think it will soon be a year since his passing…but please continue to keep his wife in your prayers. She is still raising the 2 grandkids and sharing her home with her daughter and 2 other grandkids.

For those that don’t know, Amy Hines Ralston (Painted Horse) crossed over this year in April. She lost her husband and best friend in January of this year as well. We can only surmise that between the cancer and a broken heart that Creator saw fit to take her into His loving arms. She leaves behind two children, Joseph and Amanda. She also leaves behind many friends in Person county and SC where she resided the last couple of years. We will miss her wit and wisdom along with her talent for finding ancestors. Rest in peace, dear friend….we miss your smiling face. Love you, Becky and Ken
Hey there Spilleddi
Well, I am on facebook, but still try to keep up with events here, too. After we danced at Waccamaw and Virginia Beach, I am thinking I need to come up with some type of headgear for a lady…LOL. It was plumb cold!! Best thing was just taking my blanket and wrapping up…including over my head.
Ken has been practicing quite a bit…even broke one knife at the handle. I do hope you make it out here again and dance. So many powwows have changed or no longer being held…it’s always constant change. There are a couple of guys who will be doing 6 powwows this year that are just getting into it after holding one last year. They have been food vendors in years past…so this should be interesting. Hoping the price of gas will hold for this year so that we can travel….Ken’s work has been sporadic with this economy so may have to pick and choose like we did last year. Glad to hear from you….take care, Becky

After 9 mos. of medical challenges it is all they can do to manage the museum….please keep them in your prayers.
