Storyteller,
I show a death date for William Daniel father of Sarah as 1775 and/or 1782 depending on where you look. I’ll look some more.
Thanks Linda! I need to look further at your post of names! Saj
October 2, 2006 at 4:05 pm #23215Hi Saj,
This would make sense. I don’t know exactly where I got the information on William Daniel. I found a will somewhere online that named the children, but I don’t know that this is the same William. Some of the children were different. I think that the will was probated in 1748. Something is not right, but I’ve been up to my neck in other “things” and haven’t had time to check out the problem thoroughly.
Also, there was obviously more than one Sarah Daniel. Supposedly, someone said that she married again a third time. And had children! I really think that they have the wrong Sarah Daniel. At the same time, I really believe that “my” Sarah Daniel WAS the one who was first married to the Jesse Womack and then to my Hancock ancestor. I just haven’t had the time to do a thorough search.

I have the will in full but this is just shortened.

Sarah’s husband, Jesse Womack, Elizabeth’s husband, John Fuqua, and Mary’s husband, John Nelson. To son William he gave “200 acres purchased of my brother James on Soak-arse creek.

The will just mentioned with the 200 acres given to William Daniel goes on to say the land adjoins the land of Bradley and Thomas Holland. I’ll go back and look at the other Hollands and post that.

The Holland family that ties into this group above has the earliest I find so far as a Thomas Holland born Ga 1812 married To Emily Wall. She was born in Mecklenburg Va and they end up in Tennessee. I tried to find what Holland line he is from but haven’t found much yet.

The Sarah Daniel married to first Jesse Womack shows a father of William Daniel and mother Elizabeth Watkins. The William powell Daniel born Cumberland co va c1740 that married Sallie Wooten shows the same parents as Sarah. William Powell Daniel married twice. First to Sallie Wooten and then To Elizabeth Short!

I have the same children that you have for William Daniel & Elizabeth Watkins as are named in the will. I would love to have a copy of the will (by e-mail). Going to the Womack website that you sent, I found an alternate birth date for William Womack that would be more in line with the age of Sarah (1771 instead of 1762 on the other listing). This is also in keeping with the ages of the other children that I found for them.
Back to Sarah, when I put her back into this family (I had detached her because of the weird dates) I saw that she had two brothers named William. One has a middle name and the other doesn’t. For the oldest of the 2, I’m showing a birth date of 26 Mar 1739. I’m also showing a marriage to Martha Field Allen on 28 Mar 1768 in Cumberland Co, VA. The other one is Williams Pride Daniel b. 06 Feb 1748. I don’t have a spouse for him.
I show my “source” as being One World Tree at ancestry.com. This is another source that you have to be very careful about.

October 2, 2006 at 4:05 pm #23232Hi Storyteller,
I had the same problem a few weeks ago. The only way that I was able to keep it from freaking out was to tell it to ‘remember me’ or whatever that message was when you do the initial sign in.
When I didn’t click that, it kept ‘forgetting’ me everytime I tried to reply.
It seems that something worked because your post finally made it. 🙂
October 2, 2006 at 4:05 pm #23233Thanks Bill,
I think that Samuel Wooton, then Wooten, Sr., needs some ?????? concerning his ancestry. Samuel Jr. may have married the Martha Hyde, I’m going to check on that further. But this is making some sense. The Martha Wooten born in 1756, daughter of Samuel is my direct line. She was married in the home of a Munford. I need to find my info on that.
Storyteller, I tried to send you the e-mail. Check your private messages, ok?
Linda, I would sure like more info on what you said about Daniel line on rez.

October 2, 2006 at 4:05 pm #23234Ok. Now I’m confused.::confused:
The William Daniel, Father of William Powell Daniel who married Sallie Wooten, is shown as marrying a Margaret? and elsewhere, Elizabeth Watkins. Maybe two marriages? But this William Daniel I show born 1725 Died 1782. That would coincide with the will date Bill mentioned. And not the will that has Sarah married to Jesse Womack (Storytellers). I am sure of the intertwining of names as shown in title above though. And I’m sure my brain is about to explode!!!:) saj
October 2, 2006 at 4:05 pm #23242Saj,
David my cousin found some stuff and he wrote about some of it on the thread Webb family here on Saponitown. You might ask him about the info I’m sure he has it. We’ve been so busy on all this stuff he may have to look for it but email him via his Saponitown profile.
