For some unexplained reason there are more Samuel’s and George’s in the overall Corn lines than you can shake a stick at. As best we can tell it went like this:
1 – John Adam CORN & Mary “Molly” (Unk)

I have no idea who these people are and how they fit into the puzzle.

Has it been mentioned here that Corn is one of the few surnames (half a dozen) that can be traced to a documented tribal Saponi?

I agree with using the lists as a starting place. I figure the author had a reason for listing those particular names, but since this is a mere snippet, it may be out of context.
It’s always just a start when dealing with Patrick and Henry County, as there seemed to be two of almost everybody. ;~)

That is curious. I didn’t think the Branch brothers (Olive & James) were in Patrick County until after this Prematia Branch marriage, but my dates could be off.
I’ve seen a family tree that included a Branch who was said to be part Delaware. The format is hard for me to follow, but it looks like part of that family came from Henry Co, VA. Here’s the link if anyone is interested. It contains the surnames SMITH, STEPHENS, HOPPER, WARD, DUDREY, REDMAN, etc., and includes the Blackfoot tribe. There are quite a few other surnames and trees, as well:

Excuse me jumping in – I saw Ft Ancient and have to mention that my son lives near Morrow (near Ft Ancient) with his significant and my grand-daughter. I have lived in the area as well. Sorry I had to miss out but glad all had a great time! Dan
I had family that lived in Morrow, after passing through Roachester and entering Morrow, to the right across the bridge, back in there. I live up in Wilmington and drive through there quite a bit when going to Montgomery County.
I lived in Roachester for a few months in 2005 and moved to Sharonville until last fall when I moved first, back to SW Wyoming and then here to the Oregon coast. If anybody knows “Daniel’s Farm” – a horse farm north of Roachester, that is my “area”. Grew up in Columbus though and didn’t even know that area existed when I was in college at Cincy. It’s too bad I didn’t get to take my wife over to Ft Ancient while there to see the mounds – we spent 1 1/2 yrs in Ohio and she never got to see any mounds. Perhaps next trip to Pt. Pleasant for reunion. I doubt that my son made the Pow Wow – he grew up in the west and has had a lifetime of it – including a SunDance with the Shoshone – just isn’t quite into it. I plan to change that with his daughter though!
I’m still reeling from the Ft. Ancient gathering…I danced so much I still have blisters on my feet…and the best part was meeting so many of the ppl in attendance…I met the Banks family and the Oxendines and folks with or connected to surnames Gibson, Bunch, Goins…to toss a few. As to me, I live right near Kings Island myself and Ft. Ancient was just a short hop down the highway…I was “gifted” a walking stick to make my own so that was another great highlight of my visit…still sanding it down and doing beadwork for the wrap. I’ll post in teh EVENTS section soon about other local Pow Wows that are upcoming that I, along with other cousins plan on attending. Blessings to all~~~Laurie
Hey, Laurie!!! It was good to meet you, too, nice to put a face to names on the board. Did you get to go to the powwow up in Dayton this weekend? We didn’t get to go 🙁 We have been busier than usual lately. We are hoping to move to a little farm outside of Felicity sometime this year. Dan’s parents bought this farm and are fixing it up to sell it to us. I’m finally getting around to saving the pictures we took at the powwow, but they didn’t come out:eek:
Our camera has been acting up lately. Hopefully Dan has the pictures on his computer:o
I was surprised to find that you live within shouting distance from us. Small world.
Daniel enjoyed meeting you, too. He enjoys meeting people at powwows. And he carries that painted staff flute with him whenever we go to powwows. I wished we could have talked longer, but Dan had a prior commitment to go to.
It was so neat that we went from the powwow to the Saturday night worship at our congregation, and it was as if the mood from the powwow continued into the worship service that night. It was a good, peaceful spiritual thing that was pretty cool to us. Dan can explain it better than I can.
W went the next day, and took a friend. Her hubby is Cherokee, and she liked the powwow. It was a bummer to see them take down the tents and booths. Jack Blosser told us that this was the most ever at this powwow.

I remember Daniel’s horse farm. Isn’t that built up now? They have a lot of those new neighborhoods build up around there and a new high school there, too. That was funny, that as recent as five years ago, Roachester was pretty much your farming area, as well as the area around it. I remember twenty years ago, how isolated Roachester used to be. :*(
It has built up so much around here that we are wanting to leave and go back to the area where we both were raised. In fact, we are looking to move to a little farm outside of Felicity, that is pretty isolated. We have one other house and a graveyard that are our closest neighbors. But for now, it is fixing up this house to sell. It’s getting too close to civilization here anymore

Daniel’s farm itself isn’t built up but the “hood” is – and more are coming.
You people make me wish I’d stayed – what a grand time dancing for Grandfather! What a wonderful other-world in which to keep our hearts.

The areas around Wilmington and Oregonia are BEAUTIFUL. The roads there are pretty tricky – hilly and curvy. I would hate to see that built up with particleboard palaces, like it is here. I used to like this area before they started building the developments around our town. We live on the edge of town, and have enjoyed that so far – until we now have a particleboard palace just over the fence of our neighbor’s yard.
Oh Jinkies….Roachester….that is the exact area that my hubby and I regularly work in….we are Warren County Genealogical volunteers and have “taken on” 4 cemeteries in the area…including the Roachester Methodist Cemetery which is in great shape for it’s age…my paternal lines are all OVER Roachester and Salem and Harlan Twps in Warren County…my lil Quaker family grew by leaps and bounds once we started researching in this area…and we still have miles and miles to go. There is just never enough time in any day it seems…some day we will retire and hopefully then we can do just this full time!
