Thanks Forest for your reply…I was hoping you would understand what I was saying:) There is a huge gap in years…Do you know if many local families (Occoneechee/Saponi) kept there own records down through the generations? Or was it passed on orally?

Thanks to all for the replies. I am currently researching the Harris and Bryant lines for the NA connection. I’ve got a photo of Thomas wife, Sarah, who was a Harris. Will post next time.

I have learned over the years not to put all my eggs in one basket concerning someone else’s research. I just used Mr. Haithcock’s research as a bread crumb to lead me to people who know a good deal more than I about Native Americans in Virginia.

I don’t have them, but the Cornell library does – I’ll try to run up and take a look. Unfortunately the books don’t really have indexes, in fact some of them don’t have page numbers.

Richard has several volumes of his work covering different areas in the US. I couldn’t tell you which was which. They are chock-full of notes and findings, but again, the lack of indexes and table of contents throws me. Unless I know a book by heart, I cannot refer anyone or myself to the material I need to read.

Shirley, this looks like the same excerpt, plus a bit more – but it’s still not clear which book it is! Apparently it’s part of a message from Richard Haithcock introducing a three volume book.

FWIW, I have not found that list in Vol 1 or Vol 2 of the books dated Feb 2007.

The names may be in both of them, but not compiled in list form, that I can recall.

It’s more like sections of county census data.

Me too – I looked at Vol 1-6 of the books dated Feb 2007 and didn’t find that particular list either. All those names appear, but on various lists, in various orders.
